BLESS THIS POST
As a fanfiction writer, it’s taken me a long time to come to this realization, and ever since I have, I’ve been so much happier with my views of my work and my self-esteem. The person my fanfiction is written for is ME. When other people enjoy it, that’s wonderful and it makes me happy, but I shouldn’t beat myself up if people don’t. It’s not for them. It’s for me.
Is Red Death's codpiece supposed to have prominence, or am I just horny?
I kind of wanna say it depends on the codpiece!
Examining some of the examples posted by Operafantomet here and here, we get some variations. A few, like the Tokyo one, are obviously codpieces but well integrated into the rest of the costume; you would not notice them unduly.
But others, such as the one from the (original) UK tour, feature a most curvaceous lump, an excellently rounded swelling, a quite shapely bulge. One can’t help but look at those bountiful protuberances and think certain, pointedly optimistic thoughts.

The audience surprised them by holding up lights for the picture, and when they turned back around for their bows you can see how shocked they were.
Why the songs from POTO have different lyrics? I was watching some bootlegs and in Wandering Child Michael always sang "far from my far reaching gaze" but Hugh sometimes sang "far from my fathering gaze"
Songs have changed lyrics because
The lyricist or composer wanted it
Because some performers were given liberty to add/change lines
The original lyrics could be misheard (for example “you’re really not a bit the gawkish girl” misheard as “You’re really not a bitch the gawkish girl...”
Some of the original Italian lines Carlotta sung in Primadonna was translated into English on Broadway
There’s probably other reasons as well, but small differences will occur between elder and newer recordings, and from production to production.
(and not just in English... having seen the Copenhagen production some 20-30 times between 2000 and 2019, many lines of the Danish libretto was gradually changed too)
