my name's madyson. rearrange the letters and you get dynamos. i think that's pretty rad. i'm a quiet person, and while i don't say much, there's a lot that goes on inside my head; so why not take a minute and flip through the pages of my thoughts. i have a story to tell, and maybe you'll find something that interests you too.

Look at the picture above. Nope, it’s not a snapshot of a Star Wars scene, or any other sci-fi movie. It’s what you get if you combine a NASA physicist working on achieving faster-than-light travel with a 3D artist, and the result is freaking AWESOME. And yes, you heard correctly, there are scientists working on faster-than-light travel, and this is what the ship could look like in the future.

Let's just take a few moments to quietly freak out. I am most definitely going to space now.

breakfast with my chicoutibuddies on a beautiful sunday morning. eggs florentine with spinach, courtesy of cafe cambio in chicoutimi. I've never had an eggs benedict style breakfast before, so my life changed after the first bite, and I can't remember why I swore off eggs in the first place. I'm definitely addicted.

Dinner with Piere in Old Montreal. Poutine with fried mushrooms and onion, and avocado fries with sweet chili dip. Can't visit Montreal without going for poutine, so delicious!

Montreal was nothing but amazing.  The architecture of the old buildings was reminiscent of days past, the people were all SO friendly (and were patient enough to listen to my fumbling french), and the nightlife was CRAZY. Walking down Rue St. Catherine was like strolling down Davie And Granville St. combined, packed with people out to have a few beers, dance the hours away, or just experience the feeling of being immersed in the city life. There was always something to do just around the corner, and I never tired of just walking for hours and exploring as much of the city as I could.  I admit, the first day was overwhelming because I was suddenly thrust into a city which I do not know how to navigate, and where the primary language is one that I have no particular strength in. The best part was finding the hostel (which was just around the corner from the bus stop) and asking a lady for directions who told us it was in the opposite direction that we were going and would take us hours to get to...believe me, I was not a happy camper. But as the days have worn on, and I've gotten used to living out of a suitcase and getting lost and trying to speak to people in a language that I'm not all to familiar with I've decided that i quite love traveling. I love all of the experiences I've had, all of the people I've met and all of the places I've been. Every experience sticks to me, helps me grow and learn and discover how many exciting things there are in this world, and I've only seen such a small fraction of it! One thing I've learned since I left Vancouver is that traveling in one of the few things that makes you richer-- not in money, because it definitely leaves you broke by the end of it--but you become rich with life, relationships, and memories. I have not experienced something like this in all my short life, and I'd have to say that I'm addicted. Now, I'm in Chicoutimi learning french, and every day puts a smile on my face. Learning a new language is a hard but rewarding process, for every day I close my eyes with a new batch of words floating through my mind. My vocabulary is expanding, and I am finally able to express myself enough to carry on short (albeit stunted) conversations. It's such a huge accomplishment, considering that three weeks ago, I was not able to do so. This is happiness.
