âAnd maybe you shouldnât sneak up on people popsâ Ophelia sassed with her eyes brows slowly raising before she just let out a laugh and âshhâed the growling dog, stroking itâs messy coat. The thirty eight year old was happy to see her ( adoptive ) father standing in front of her and she could some of the emptiness that gripped her heart so tightly slipping away. It was easier to handle the pain when you had someone to talk to, lean on and her pops ( as cranky as he was ) was ALWAYS there.Â
The redhead eighteen years ago might have knocked some teeth in if you had said she was going to be like this around Mark, but time would only have told what would have happened to the two of them and Ophelia was ever thankful for the man she called her father now. She just smiled at him and walked over, Barkvolio sticking close behind her as she moved. âItâs great to see you none the less.âÂ
Mark pursed his lips as he contemplated her comment about his sneaking, eventually deciding that arguing back wouldn't be wise. They had done plenty of that in the last eighteen years anyway. âFair point.â He admitted despite still glaring at the black lab, playfully of course. He wasnât here to annoy a dog, he was here for Ophelia. Mark coped with his own loss in all the WRONG ways and he wouldnât let her do the same.Â
âYou too, kid. Now come here, donât make me ask for a hug.â It didnt take long after the words left his mouth for Mark to pull her into a short but caring hug. He just liked to know she was safe, it put his mind at ease and made him SLIGHTLY less of an old grump. âHow are you anyway?â
