Post-finale Jane Byers–Hopper and Will Byers 💜💛

Yes, she’s alive, she’s with Kali, and Dr. Owens helped them to regulate all problems with the military/government of USA (the ones who knew) and now lives with them outside of USA (he was also the one to provide them with new ID’s).

And here are some of my personal headcanons about Jane in the future! I do like the idea that she shares her love to animals with her actress Millie 💜 I also love the headcanon that Will customise his eye patches <3

Have you ever heard of the idea that by the end of s4 Will has lost everything that was used to bring him back from the Mind Flayer possession back in s2?

Jonathan mentioned Castle Byers and how they’ve built it together. In season 3 Will destroyed the Castle Byers.

Mike mentioned how the day they’ve met on the swings and Mike asked “if Will wanted to be his friend” was the best thing he’s ever done. In the end of season 4 Mike contradicts himself during his speech to Jane, saying that “his life have started the day he found her in the woods” (also the same day Will disappeared)

Joyce mentioned Will’s birthday: March 22. The same day that was completely forgotten in season 4, when Jane was bullied at the Rink-o-Mania. No one, including Will, has mentioned his birthday. I might say though, the Duffers confirmed that they simply have forgotten about this, which is weird considering how they could have used any other day on the tape. It also becomes more weird that in season 5 Joyce says “11 years old boy” speaking of Will in season 1, however we know that by the time Will went missing he was 12 already (it is seen on Jonathan’s “missing kid” poster).

There was also a postcard right behind “Will the Wise” artwork that says “I forgot your birthday”

Out of all of this the Birthday Gate theory was formed. Some people believe that Mind Flayer or/and Henry have started to slowly erase Will from the existence, since their previous plan (of possession) has failed due to love and support of his friend and family. And I love this idea SO MUCH!! I personally view this more as the way to make Will lost all the hope and faith, and also bring one of Mike’s biggest fears to reality (you can’t make me believe that his biggest fear is losing Jane only, I feel like this actually works for most of his friends BUT especially for Jane and Will).

Oh, the possibilities we could have had….💔

This sketch is slightly related to his erasure? This is how I see him being erased in real-life, Mind Flayer’s physical veins slowly sprout inside his body so it could later be used as a puppet. And I kinda like to believe that Vecna’s body was formed similar way (Henry being slowly erased, at least the hopeful part of him, which could have been brought back by Patty)

Kinda long description!

While one actor claims that "byler endgame wouldn't feel earned" and the show says that "Mike understands Eleven like no one else" I can't stop thinking how insincere and fake Mike's speech was at the end of season 4.  If the roles were switched, and Mike had to say a speech like that to Will based of Eleven feelings (Will's painting, remember?) I wouldn't be satisfied with Byler. The only thing that felt true was about Benny's t-shirt on El (and Eleven actually chuckled at that moment, which was cute). Everything else in his speech completely contradicts what we have seen in the show.  While one actor claims that "byler endgame wouldn't feel earned" and the show says that "Mike understands Eleven like no one else" I can't stop thinking how insincere and fake Mike's speech was at the end of season 4.  If the roles were switched, and Mike had to say a speech like that to Will based of Eleven feelings (Will's painting, remember?) I decided to make this comic strip to show these inconsistencies. But while I was working on it I thought of how cool it would've been if season 4 was made to show that lies and fakeness makes you weaker while truth and sincerity empowers you. Just like the room Jancy were in in season 5 stopped melting when they shared their true feelings and revealed all their lies, just a sincere talk between Mike and Eleven (and Mike and Will as well) would empower them and strengthen their relationship (view this as you like, I personally prefer platonic Mileven bond). 

The last page was supposed to be different but it was sad and focused more on Mike's lies instead of Eleven herself. Therefore I decided to change it and while I was working on a new page (the one that you see here now) I thought that...what if Eleven thought of Hopper when she saw Max struggling? After all, she didn't know he was alive and she probably still grieving him, and maybe even blame herself for his death? And she couldn't afford losing Max as well. This is why Mike's "but right now, you just need to FIGHT!" is something that has resonated with her, and it was something that was truly empowering. It might not have prevented Vecna's plan from completing but it was enough to restart Max's heart in the end and keep her alive. 

And how wonderful it would have been to see characters reveal all the lies in season 5 and thus defeating Mind Flayer, by strengthening their bond simply by telling the truth to each other. Steve and Dustin, Jancy, even Hopper had secret from Joyce (failsafe), Will's lie and secret, and potentially even Eleven's guilt for "not being strong enough" (even though it's not her fault). 

That's a big speech right there...you can clearly see how disappointed I am with how characters arcs were ended...😭 Well, at least I'm the artist and I can bring my own headcanons and views to life in my artwork :D

So…you are telling me that straight couples can rely on each other and "I just needed you" but when it comes to queer couples we need to get only self-acceptance, right? Okay, got it 👍👍

Ahh the buzzfest we could have had…

I do love Lumax and they're amazingbut I wish queer couples were happy the same way in a media just like some of the straight couples🥲

I personally think it was a wasted opportunity to make Max blind or partially blind. It could have raised stakes when it comes against Vecna (which would make him essentially more dangerous) and it would also be more realistic. Not only that, but Max being blind would have been perfect representation of someone who happened to get into tragic accident and therefore get a disability. Imagine if she would have asked “what is going on?” and Lucas or her friends would have to tell her about the surroundings or about the events around them. 

And her being blind but still trying to use skateboarding and stuff would have been great opportunity to show that even if tragic event has occurred it still not a reason to drop your hobbies and lose hope. It might be more challenging but it still possible.

At least Max got a happy ending, I love her x) I wanted to make her partially blind because I love the idea of Sadie being in glasses but I didn’t like how it looked on my artwork so I decided to keep the artwork without glasses :D

When the character stops wearing his symbolic colors

Even though the series are over, I still prefer to believe some of the fan theories since I find them better and more fitting. In one of the episodes Joyce brings up the fact that it is cold outside and Will says that he’s fine. It immediately brings us to season 2, where Mind Flayer has possessed Will, and we know from that season that „he likes it cold”. We also see in season 5 mentioning of changing the memories: Holly’s merry-go-round had different color in the centre in her memories compared to reality. We see similar thing with a switch on the radio tower, when Robin turns the energy (?) on: it was grey in the first episode and then it turned out to be red in episode 5. Will also had said „vessels” when referring to kids Vecna has took, however, you can interpret it as simply him quoting Vecna. But the idea of him being possessed is way more interesting.

As for the colors on this comic strip, most of the time Will Byers wears either 💛 yellow clothes (his symbolic color) or 💙 blue colors (Mike’s symbolic color), however in the coming out scene in episode 7 he wears the outfit colors of which are unusual for Will – 🧡 orange and 💚green. It made fans believe that Will Byers is being influenced by Mind Flayer in that scene (not necessarily controlled but kinda feels uncomfortable in what he was doing).

And finally, the birthdaygate theory, which made fans believe that Vecna/Mind Flayer slowly erase Will Byers’ memories, especially those that are strong enough for him to tap into Vecna’s power. Just as Castle Byers (one of the core memories from Season 2) was destroyed by Will himself in Season 3, his birthday was also forgotten in Season 4 by everyone including Will himself. And in season 5 Joyce mentioned Will’s age from Season 1 when he was kidnapped, however the age was incorrect: she said „11 years old boy” while we see on Jonathan’s poster that Will was 12 at the moment. So, just as he slowly loses his core memories, I like to believe that he slowly begins to forget all the memories that bring him hope. One of the, being „the promise” Mike and Will gave each other in Season 2: „crazy together”

Reminder: russia keeps attacking Ukraine every single day. After a brief pause they attacked Kyiv today, taking the lives of 12 people as of now (including three children) and injuring 48 more. The fires are still raging and the rescue operations are still underway, more casualties may be uncovered later.

russians never paused their attacks in other regions, and they keep occupying new villages. They crossed the border of Donetsk region, they are re-occupying or completely demolishing villages that were previously liberated by UAF in Kharkiv region. The attacks on civilian population in Kherson are also constant and will probably get even worse.

Despite all the media circus, the US made absolutely zero progress on "peace talks" all they did is legitimized and glazed a war criminal. It's humiliating that the biggest presense of Ukraine in foreign media right now is all of this instead of reporting on what's actually happening here. I want war to be over so badly. I want to know with 100% certainty that we'll never have to experience war again in our lifetime. But with current state of affairs this possiblity seems completely out of reach. The world will force us into "peace", give us "guarantees" with zero intention of honoring them and russia will attack us again in 3-5 years. Everyone will act surprized and the cycle will repeat. For some reason russia has endless amount of benefit of the doubt despite showing time and time again that they act in bad faith. Man, it's so tiring.
