happy pride month everyone!!
do not forget the patron saint of these weeks that we celebrate ourselves proudly and openly in the streets
her name was Marsha P Johnson, and we have her to thank for so much.
remember, the first Pride was a riot, and she was one of the brave souls who endured it to help carve the path which so many of us walk today. she helped found several activist groups regarding LGBT safety and wellbeing. and she was absolutely radiant, too.
thank you, Marsha. we remember you.

tgirl in urgent need of dental care!
(post going more in-depth)
it's official- we've missed rent for a second month in a row now, and the expenses keep piling on. the car, my girlfriend's computer, our bills...
but most pressing of all, my teeth. aggressive infection that's rotting them away day by day. in a month i doubt i'll even have any gums left. one of my teeth has started breaking apart, little chunks of it falling out of my mouth. it hurts.
the total for all the work i need is $3292. we're also $2360 behind on rent. $5652 total.
my girlfriend is working lots of overtime, but to pay these bills and make rent next month, she'd need to work about 130 hours a week, without food or gas for the car, nonstop all month.
the most pressing matters are the gum cleaning (still furious that insurance won't let me do it all on the same day), which is mercifully only $60 total, and the root canal/crown for tooth 30 (1st molar right side), AKA the tooth that's falling apart. $1997 for that. payment required up front.
at this point some new bullshit comes up every day. we began to have hope after my girlfriend started her job, but it's being dashed at every turn now. please, please help us. we're doing everything we can. please reblog, and if you can, please donate. thank you. i'm sorry.

I need you to stop what you are doing. Stop playing your games, stop reading your books, stop listening to your music. I need all of you, please, to go and help Palestinians — now and in the future.
We are living in unbearable conditions that no human should face. I am writing this from inside a tent under extreme heat, hunger, and constant fear. Please DONATE NOW
My wife is sick and collapsing in front of my eyes every day. I watch her getting weaker and I am completely helpless, unable to save her or even ease her pain.
We have lost everything — our home, our safety, and any sense of normal life. We have lived through bombings, displacement, and famine, and we are still trying to survive.
Please don’t ignore us. Don’t leave us alone. We need your support, your donations, and your voice. Without you, we cannot make it.

I remember being a teenager and seeing MRAs on reddit talk about how they acknowledge that "some" MRAs were misogynistic, and that they didn't "approve" of it, but they wanted to talk about the impact of gender on their lives. And those of us who were naive enough to take this in good faith responded with genuine confusion, "feminism is the framework you're looking for. you should learn about feminism, and it will give you tools to understand the impact of gender on your life." and these men would say, "but we need a space that centers men's experiences."
now I'm in my 30s and watching the exact dialogue play out over and over on tumblr in trans spaces. tMRAs will sometimes acknowledge that others using "transandrophobia" or "transmisandry" terminology are transmisogynistic, and say they don't approve of it, but then go on to say that "trans men need spaces to talk about the impact of gender on their lives." those who respond in good faith say, "transfeminism the framework you're looking for. you should learn about transfeminism, and it will give you tools to understand the impact of gender on your life." and then these men say, "but we need a space that centers men's experiences."
men's "need" to be centered, and the antagonistic, resentful attitude towards even the suggestion of not being prioritized over women, is misogyny. understand this. it's misogyny even if he's not the one sending rape threats and harassing lesbians and vividly fantasizing about wanting to kill women. the desire to only participate in conversations that center men is the root issue. the more violent and recognizable forms of misogyny are nourished in spaces like this. you reap what you sow, and a space that centers men will grow misogyny (no matter how much you disavow the fruit).
no one, of any gender or relationship to their birth assignment, will find understanding around how sexgender functions in their own life if they cannot de-center men in that learning. they might learn ways to describe it (much of which will be misogynistic by virtue of learning this language in spaces that center men) but they won't meaningfully understand it any better than they did when they started. de-centering men is foundational.
i’m surprised the yellow wallpaper isn’t more commonly referenced on tumblr. it really seems like our kind of thing
A lot of you on here sure don’t like the idea of making any kind of sacrifice for the benefit of others huh
Some of you act like doing minor inconvenient acts of kindness is equivalent to donating a kidney as if it’s not those acts that form our communities and make the world go around.
Return your grocery cart. If you’re able-bodied offer your seat to someone who is not. Help your friend move. Drive your sister to the airport. Make sure drunk people have a safe ride or walk home. Pet-sit for your coworker. Participate in a meal train. Volunteer in your area. That’s what friendship and community is about.
I never found myself shocked by lemonparty. I thought it was beautiful, what they had together, at that stage of their lives.
the problem marxists have on disability is that they aren't reading marxist thought on disability and just kind of winging it. marta russell already laid out the political economy of disability in the global north in the 90s and global south scholars have their own (marxist) schools of thought on disability and have iterated on global north marxist disability analyses. disabled people are workers, most often. and handicapitalism (russell's term) has also turned disabled people into commodities. it's impossible to understand modern politics without engaging with these two realities.
