cruel how loving someone rewires you permanently.

Another year is coming to an end.
2025 was a good and productive year for me. I wrote my thesis, prepared for my defense and obtained my phd. Just one year ago, the mere thought of defending my thesis kept me awake at night.
I am also grateful for the time I got to spend with the people I care about the most. My caring boyfriend, my amazing friends and loving family. My grandparents are getting really old, they can barely stand and walk and I'm extremely grateful for any time that I get to spend with them.
The days after my defense have been particularly peaceful and calm. I have enjoyed Christmas with my family, it felt very relaxed and cozy. I felt loved by my mom and the rest of my family of course. Right now I'm spending new years with some friends, we're having fun and sharing good food. Someone said "you can tell you're getting older when the food on the table starts to look good!"
In 2026, I look forward to spending more time with my loved ones as much as possible. I wish also to be more adventurous and put myself out there to try and learn new things.
Best wishes to everyone!
i recommend telling yourself “this isn’t an experience i want to keep having” and stop entertaining things that are really detrimental to your health and don’t benefit you in anyway.
Soooo this week I went to the basement to carry some empty boxes, and found that someone else occupied my assigned basement room. Well, let me rephrase that. Someone took my bike and everything else that was in the room and left it in the common area. Then proceeded to leave exactly one item in the basement room. Also, the front light on my bike disappeared. And today I found out that my amazon package delivered yesterday was stolen within 2 hrs of it being delivered.
Hmm. I wonder who did all this.
Perhaps the fucking nazi fascist neighbor?? Who is a disrespectful piece of shit and gives absolutely zero fucks about other people living in the building?????
Ughhhhhhh I hate living hereee
"overfull hbox" stop fat-shaming my formulas, LaTeX
One of my goals for my phd thesis is to have zero warnings in the final version. I fixed every single overfull hbox warning but one, caused by the university logo on the official frontpage, which I cannot change. I'm just gonna override it with a command ✌️
Today is the first day of my phd. I'm sitting in a room waiting for the courses presentation to start. I'm thrilled and scared at the same time... And I'm not the only girl in the room! Fingers crossed🤞
This was almost four years ago. I don't remember being this excited at the beginning of my phd, haha. A lot of things happened in the meantime, both good and bad. What a journey.
Today I'm sitting at my desk, writing my phd thesis. It's probably going to be one of the last days of me working in this office. It's the bittersweet end of an era.
Also, by pure chance I just met my high school math professor in the canteen. She was visiting my institution with a few students from her class. She was not my favorite, but seeing her again after all this time surprised me. It felt nice. Lots of nostalgia.
Life update. I'm supposed to submit my PhD thesis to the referees this week, ideally today or tomorrow. There is still one chapter I need to review, and a few other things that need to be patched here and there in the thesis. I'm proud of what I've been doing, I've been working my ass off spending late nights in the office to meet the deadline. Unfortunately, my supervisor decided this is the best time to ghost me, and I haven't heard from her in almost two weeks. She is the most unorganized person I've ever had to work with, and I can't wait never to see her again.
Today's mission is to try and stop her after her lecture. I don't know exactly what to say to her, I'm pretty upset and angry. I don't care about her feedback anymore, I just want to submit the thing.

current mantra
At the beginning of this year, I felt that I was due for a Holmes refresh, as I had become a bit rusty about some canonical points. So I picked up my Annotated and decided that I would go though it again, and perhaps take some notes, or even do a comic if the mood strikes me. Well, the mood did very much strike me, and I thought I should do one comic per story to make a neat series of sixty-ish. A bit out of nostalgia, mostly to brush up my knowledge, retrain my hand, re-engage with scholarship, and have a project to work on that is methodical and self-contained.
They’ll be posted, as usual, here, vaguely weekly. I've also set up a substack newsletter for people outside of Tumblr, so I’ll be crossposting between the two.
The new comics will exist separately from the ‘original series’ (2012-18), as I'll be changing some character designs, sticking to a template, and editing them in a cohesive way. I am also planning to collect them in printed form when I am done.
I want to thank everyone for your continued interest and support. I’m always so happy that my little sketches have such an appreciative audience and to have made so many friends through them. I do hope you enjoy this fresh take on some old adventures!
