This is gonna be reeeaallly random, but I absolutely love the misty forests of Oregon. The Pacific Northwest has always had a special place in my heart, there’s just something about the way there’s always mist hanging over the pine trees with the birds flying calmly overhead as you stand in a clearing covered in moss and fallen pine needles. It always makes me feel at home. It gives me a sense of there truly being spirits that inhabit all of the plants and rocks.

ah it seems really peaceful!! i’ve never been there but i could really imagine what it’s like to walk thru such forests. thanks for this ask <3

I just got a new plant, anything I can do to make it happy and feeling welcome?

oh neat!! before anything else, u should make sure the pot’s the right size. if any roots poke thru the bottom holes it means the pot is too small, and that’s no good. also try to find out if it needs watering. if u got it from a nursery it probably doesn’t, but stick something halfway thru the soil to be sure. then u can just say something like “welcome to ur new home, i hope u like it”, out loud or not. and then keep a close eye on it for a week or so, to make sure all is well and u picked the right spot. enjoy ur new baby!!

Hello! A few years ago I stayed in Maine for the summer, and fell in love with the forests there. I haven’t been back since then, but every time I think of Maine I feel homesick, and when I smell something that smells like the trees there, or see moss on the ground that looks like Maine’s moss it physically hurts, and I almost immediately start crying. Do you think I have some sort of connection with the forests there? Do you have any tips on how to deal with this? Thank you!

u seem to really have a connection! i can’t really tell u why, it also depends on ur beliefs. maybe it has to do with ur own mental state during that stay, maybe u reasoned with the energy, maybe it’s because of past lives.

regardless of that, my advice - which may not be the best - is to find out what made u fall in love, and then seek that. it might be painful to remember u are not there right now, but it might also help u emulate what u loved about those forests. it’s sad to think about losing something u love, but don’t forget maine’s not actually lost. u have ur memories, there are photos, scents, plants. u can go back there one day. 

if u are a witch, u could also try a spell for homesickness, or perhaps for loss/grief. maybe u could astral project, or simply meditate thinking of those forests.

i’m sorry if i wasn’t of much help; this isn’t something i’ve dealt with before. followers feel free to chime in~

eu tenho e não tenho um livro de sombras. eu comecei a anotar algumas coisas (astrologia, taro, fases da lua) e depois deixei de lado porque fica mais fácil usando só o tumblr/memória/improvisação. mas o que eu escrevi foi em português, traduzido do que eu encontrei, só com uma ou outra palavra em inglês quando eu acho melhor que a tradução

mas no final quem decide é você! ce pode até fazer um livro bilíngue se quiser. como ele é pra sua própria referência o importante é ser útil e prático :^)

Hi! (Love your blog) I dont know if you do this kind of thing here, but I was wondering if you could help me on my path to becoming a green witch? I’ve been doing a lot of research on witchcraft and I dont really know if I believe in casting spells, but I definitely believe in the healing power of plants. However, I do not have a green thumb, and I am in high school so I do not have much time to tend to and care for house plants. Do you have any tips or somewhere you can direct me to? Thank you!

hi! thanks! and god do i relate to that. i’ll try to keep myself from rambling here:

a green thumb is something u develop. a lot of plants will die along the way. it be like that sometimes. just keep going and learn how to identify “symptoms”. here’s a handy guide. no need to study it, u’ll gradually memorize it. also make sure ur pots are not too small, that’s often an issue

start with easy plants. like sansevieria (snake plant). succulents and cacti are also simple but they need more light (not so good for bedrooms)

and also do not start from seed. i tried many times but seedlings need attention and we both know that’s not possible during high school

u make ur path. make an effort to use plants:

when u water them, do it with charged water. i just hold the bottle, visualizing the water getting filled with love and care, but there are plenty of ways to charge

thank them when u take parts (that’s for stuff like basil and other herbs)

spells don’t usually include living plants. improvise. adapt. overcome. u can use them to charge ur stuff (check correspondences!). bury sigils on their pots. use them instead of candles? idk buddy, experiment

sometimes u don’t even need to use actual plants! u can ground urself by imagining roots connecting ur body and the ground. here’s a spell that involves plant visualization

just don’t ingest random stuff pls. stay safe <3

pay attention to the environment. not in a go vegan or zero waste way (unless u want to ofc) but. don’t litter. pick up trash and toss it in the right place. try and learn to identify plants in ur neighborhood. etc

lastly, not everything has to be green. i also work a lot with knot magic and crystals, for example. tbh i don’t think there’s a huge difference between types of witchcraft. so avoid giving urself rules that don’t really exist, i guess

i lied, this is the last tip: don’t overthink it. ur gut is important too
