Welcome to Earthereal Curiosities! The one stop shop for all things Antique and Curious! This is the story of two friends, who eventually become five, and save the seas as well as their own lives and fates. Takes place in the Victubia Universe Created by Gabbi
Gabbi: So I don’t usually write, because it’s not really my thing. But I’ve felt the need to get this story out of my system for sooooo long (and it will take forever to make a comic out of it)!! Maybe I’ll write more short stories like this in the future. The will probably focus on OC’s though.
In this we get a bit of backstory to the family situation of my Victubia OC Felice Alden, as he talks with his partner.
FULL VERSION FINALLY UP! :D
Content warning: child abuse (ends on a good fluffy note though)
Gianna, despite the reputation she’s built for herself now as a competent, charitable worker does have a bit of a past. Even before her work in the rebellion she was definitely know as the stereotypical ‘mom’. Always smiles and kind with cakes and tea for everyone. If she could help, she would find a way to. With her position it wasn’t too hard-being the head of a wealthy trade business. She was as clever and precise as she is now, as well as honest when asked an opinion. When she entered the rebellion, on Queen Minx’s side, everyone was surprised, thinking her a nurse because, despite having gone to the magi academy, nobody could recall what elements she had studied, or if she had studied any. All anyone knew was that she was proficient with green and pink magic, as well as telekinesis. But what she did during the rebellion caused such a shock to those that knew her that once she returned she dedicated herself to her charity work even more so. Trying to make people remember who she really was, and would always try to be; not what she’d done.

Gianna is a Lady rank in Victubia, and she lives in Tragard, in a little private land area near the ocean. She does know green and purple magic, and as far as grey magic she uses telekinesis But nobody knows what kind of elements she uses. She's the most generous lady, kind and demure. But she also likes silly puns and playing light pranks.
Tagged by @divine-colossus! I’ve never done one of these before either, but I will answer!
Where do you publish your work?
I publish through tumblr, but I’m thinking about using Ao3 in the future
What medium/application/etc. do you write in or with?
I always have to manually write it out first, so notebooks, then Microsoft Word/Google Docs
Do you collaborate with others?
I’ve never done so, but i would love to! I bet it would be fun
How much editing do you do before you publish?
I am always editing, as I write then again as I type it out, then a reading through it a few more times to fix things before i publish it.
Do you listen to music when you write?
I do! Sometime to get into the mood of the chapter or drabble I’ll choose whatever song(s) I think fit best and go on ahead! I mostly listen to instrumental though, since words in songs take me a bit to tune out.
How do you decide what to write about?
I have to completely plot things out so that way I don’t deviate a lot, otherwise I will most likely deviate ;w; but sometimes I’ll make little drabbles on spur of the moment ideas.
When do you write?
I procrastinate a lot, and school (calculus) takes up so much of my attention that I have to pretty much focus on one thing at a time. So I write in as much spare time I can get, and it’s not always this Victubia story
How often do you write?
Not as often as I want
Do you take requests? Why/why not?
I would definitely take requests! Whether about my characters or others, I would do my derndest and it would be fun to see what other people could come up with as far as ideas!
Is there any genre or type of story you want to write but are hesitant to?
Horror. I love the genre and I need to get better at writing it, but I need o work on my suspense in stories because thats the one I’m afraid I’ll mess up and that’s really the biggest part of Horror!
Any inspirational quotes, videos, tricks, articles, etc. that help you stay motivated?
Me kicking myself, does that count? I’m always like ‘You have ideas, write them darn it!!!’ and that people like my work makes me push myself that much more because they wanna see the work as much as I want to write it!
Go to page 7 of your WIP, skip to the 7th line, share 7 sentences, and tag 7 more writers to continue the challenge.
Well I don’t have 7 pages, but I have a bit of a WIP of a very future chapter:
Shikha looked in disbelief at Gianna, there were no words that she could say that would make sense of her thoughts, let alone the situation she had been presented with. It didn’t help that the look the woman was giving her bordered on what could only be described as motherly pity, and Shikha had always hated pity. All that had happened, all that she knew was running through her head.
And now everything was up to her.
With that train of thought, the pitying look that Gianna was giving her made Shikha even more upset. She was meant to be respected for what she had to do, not pitied!
I omitted a few sentences, because plot, enjoy and think about what happened to lead up to this!
But I’m afraid I don’t know seven people ;w; go ahead and do this if you want to, though!
Dang school has gotten the best of me. But at the end of this spring break here I have to announce that I am rebuilding this story pretty much completely. I have a proper blog that will be for story, and this one will be for offshoot things like working on character information and plot ramblings.
Please bear with me for a little while longer and then the new blog will be finished. But for now I'll give y'all little character things/drabbles.
And if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!
January 29: The experiments thus far have been largely inconclusive. The lab rat I have found and been using has not been responding well to the treatments. Side effects not limited to: shaking, nausea and sickness, and hallucinations of magic that they find themselves believing they have. At one point I feared they would hurt themselves. Well, hurt themselves more than they have been. It was interesting to see them stand on the ledge of the window, but in the end they were too scared. Just like they were too scared to refuse food and a place to stay in exchange for work. I treat them so harshly, but they have not left. Of course, they have nowhere to go. And that is really the fun of it. I tried the machine and shots three times today. I had to strap them down because they have begun to spasm wildly when I administer these things. I suppose the strain on the mind has affected their reactions. Alas, none have seemed to take. They broke down when I said I had to possess them to see if they were using their full potential, but that quickly stopped when I began to pick their brain. I do so hate when they blubber like that. However they have gotten much better since I first picked them up. It is not that I do not believe them, but there is only so much you can expect a sewer rat to do or understand. Even if you are teaching them at a steady pace. We will try again in another few days I suppose. I need this to work. If I can do this, then there is nothing stopping me from finishing what I started.
When Shikha became captain, she even tried to hide in the air to get away from this enemy. That being said she totally has her own airship and she loves it so much. Titus does not agree on this love and hates being in the air.
We don't know what Vox magic are capable of, wouldn't it be already out of canon if you come up with it?
Exactly. It’d all be speculation and the most I have is that it’s based on the power of words. Which isn’t enough.
(But it kind of explains the masks; because if another Vox magi knows your face and your name you are 100% screwed my friend. But it could also just be a common trait among them.)
I mean I could go so many places with that but whether or not it actually accurately fits Gabbi’s concept is what concerns me. I’ll wait and see what is explained later on in the story concerning Vox magic-honestly I love the mystery surrounding it so much and I can’t wait to see where it goes!
I may just make a triple wielder instead? I’ll work on this….
The more I read through all the Victubia things, the more making the character I want to make a Vox magi seems kind of OP. Is it? Of course in the story it's definitely going to seem that way for a time before they figure out how to best them. It's the same thing with my dual wielding elemental magi But just...I don't know? I hate making something too far out of canon and this character/characters might be?
Would you guys want to see playlists for each character? It's just a little thing I like to do so people can kinda get the mood they give off as well as a small view into some inner suffering past events.
“Hey! Be careful with that varnish! If you spill it the entire street will have to get cleaned again!” Vivienne shouted out to a shorter figure, two big ice blue eyes glanced up at her and nodded before carrying the container of varnish a bit more carefully towards the group of workers who were fixing up the last of the wood work on the bottom half of the shop. Above, another group of workers toiled away at the brick work, making it look as clean as it may have been when the building was first built.
Vivienne herself was working on the painting detail for the title of her shop, the sign that would go over the windowed section. There was also little outlines of pictures on the other panelings, as it did stick out in a trapezoidal shape. Her hair was messy, her clothes awry and covered in gold paint splatters, and as she wiped her forehead another streak of gold trailed across it, “It’s coming along...the longest I’ve worked on anything.” she laughed to herself, turning and stepping down the ladder when she heard the arrival of the cart.
“So, you finally decided to show up!” she grinned as she walked over to the cart, leaning on it and looking up at Vincent, who had been the coachman.
“Hey, don’t blame me if there was a hold up in the city. This thing can only go around so sharp a corner.” he jumped off on the other side, walking around and pulling the tarp off of the back of the cart, and pulling out a sphere filled with water, “And besides, this is the glass shipment that you asked for, what if they all broke?” he concentrated on the water inside, making the sphere float as the liquid moved around.
“Oh, right. And hey! Be careful with that one! It’s a weather terrarium.” she jumped up and grabbed it, gently placing it inside the box Vincent had taken it out of, “So is this all the fragile stuff?”
“Ninety percent of the stuff you have is fragile, this is part of it.” Vince smirked and noticed the paint on her forehead, taking out a handkerchief and wiping it off, “I can’t leave you alone for 5 minutes without you making a mess of yourself can I?”
She felt her forehead, then looked at herself, pouting up at Vince“Hey! This is my work outfit for a reason! Anyways, I can always pass it off as glitter if some gets left over after washing.” taking the handkerchief out of Vincent’s hands, she wiped her own off before sticking it in her apron pocket, “Now, you wanna check out the inside? You’ve hardly had the chance to!”
“I’ve been figuring out what I want to do for the garden. And you’ve only let me in to arrange things. I’m surprised I haven’t been blindfolded then either.”
“You exaggerate.” Vivienne said, rolling her eyes with a grin before grabbing Vincent’s arm, “Now come on!”
With a small laugh, Vince followed along into the shop, and his eyes widened.
“Woah.”
The entire place had been transformed. There was a deep red carpet on the floor, the walls had been redone, a classy Fleur de Lis design on it in a cream and tan colouring. Lamps had been put on the poles, around which the center counter space was placed, for jewelry and the like. The seating in the window space no longer looked tattered and falling apart, but matched the carpet in its scarlet hue and was spotless. Shelves filled with beautiful and odd looking objects lined the walls, and more lamps sat on small coffee tables here and there. The glass doors int he back were clean, and painted white, making the entire space seem more open and light, and the stairs in the back had been redone in a shiny dark wood.
“And this is just the first floor? How am I going to bring my stuff in without messing up everything?”
“The second floor is kind of the same? Except we added a bathroom and a cafe counter. The chairs are still on their way though. But! you don’t have to worry about the back at all! Let me show you!”
Vince was speechless, following without a fight through the back doors and still gaping at what he saw.
“What did you think you’d been making the glass for silly! It wasn’t to redo the living room.”
The backyard, which had previously looked like an overgrown, half dead jungle, had been manicured and tended to meticulously. The grass was a bright green, some flowering weeds bobbed here and there, and in the right hand corner sat a garden, it was of a decent size and already tilled and ready to plant in.
Vincent didn’t long to think about that, however, because she pulled him into the structure that took up the entire left side, and a good third of the backyard.
The greenhouse was organized already, tables set up around the space, but empty in case Vince decided to rearrange them to something he thought as better. A system of sprinklers lined the ceiling along the metal rods that supported the roof. Quite a few bags of dirt and fertilizer sat on the very end of the house. It was new and unused, that would change very soon.
Vincent was shocked all the same.
“You...did all this?”
“Well I never really gave you your own space at the manor you know? That place was already used. And while you may have limits and stuff here I just wanted you to be able to arrange things to the way you wanted you know? You don’t really have that freedom at the manor, since a lot of that stuff’s really heavy. Even if we have done a lot to try and make it fit you, I thought maybe a clean slate would work better. Here you can move it to wherever you want!”
she made a dramatic motion to it all with a grin.
“I...wow.” Vincent broke out into a huge smile, and before Vivienne could say anymore she was picked up in a tight hug, “Thanks. This is huge! Well, not really, but I’m glad I get to make all the flowers I want!” he set her down with a pleased sigh, but then a perplexed look came over his face, “Wow...but...won’t a lot of people still go to Tragard for flowers? Aren’t we going to go to Tragard to get some seeds? Why should we sell some when it’s only a train ride away?”
Viv rolled her eyes, “Don’t be silly. You doubt the laziness of some people. And I know you, Vince.” She smirked, nudging him again, “I know you’ll want to make, and will make, flowers nobody has ever seen. But please keep the nightshade in a very distinct corner, with a warning sign!”
“You’re letting me grow nightshade here?” Vince asked incredulously, but with a smirk.
“Only because the basement will be for potion making. I’m running out of space at the manor.” she grinned, “Now come on! We gotta unload the cart!” she motioned for him to follow, walking through the door on the opposite end that led into the building, Vincent following with that grin still on his face.
A week later, two people stood in front of the very same shop. However, they were no the inspectors as it was the last time.
One was a shorter young woman, curvy and clad in a full skirted fuschia dress, a parasol in her lace gloved hands, and black hair done up in a classic syle for that time. Her yellow-green eyes were focused on the building before her, a large grin on her face as she motioned with a free hand to the building, looking to her companion almost expectantly.
“So...this is the place you were excited about?” was asked in an almost deadpan voice, an eyebrow raised on the other’s face. He had rust coloured hair, freckles, and a lanky figure that was only accentuated by the baggy peasant shirt and pants he wore. His hazel eyes looked out of the corner of them to the woman, who stood upright and proud. While he was confused, he knew better than to tease her about this, even if he would’ve teased her about most anything else.
This was important to her. She hardly wore something so intricate otherwise.
“Of course! Can’t you see it? It’ll be a beautiful shop!” she grabbed his arm and shook it lightly, “I know it looks all rundown now, but imagine what we can turn it into, what we’re going to turn it into!” there was a pause, the man thinking, and the girl grinned, nudging him with an elbow, “Aaand, there’s a whole backyard, with what looks like a greenhouse. That’ll need some work too, but I think you’ll like it.”
The man had been hooked the minute she had mentioned a greenhouse, but he had to make it look like he was deliberating just for show, smirking and laughing a little when the girl started bouncing nervously, shaking his arm again.
“Vincent! Come on!”
He rubbed his chin, “We have to renovate it don’t we? And I have a feeling this comes with limits.”
“Well yeah...and yeah....” the girl twirled her parasol in her hands ner But one we’ll have fun rebuilding it, and two...I’ll figure out what they are later. For now we just gotta get started here! If we get it done together, it’ll get done faster. And you’re still getting paid.”
Vincent hummed in mock thought, “I guess...fine. You’ve pulled my leg!” he said dramatically with a sigh, “I’ll do it. You’re lucky I like you Vivienne.”
“I know I know,” she grinned, closing up the parasol and hooking the handle onto her forearm before reaching into her purse and taking out a ring with two keys on it and moving to unlock the door, “Alright, let’s see what we’re working with here!”
Upon opening the door, they were greeted with a dark, dismal looking grey coloured area. Two poles stood in the middle of the room, directly across from each other a ways. Stairs were visible in the back corner, a set going up, over an area with a door on it, likely hiding the steps that went downstairs. A set of double glass doors sat in the back, as well as another door off to the side that led to the greenhouse. What pieces of furniture were left were covered with yellowing sheets, and the entire place had a musty smell to it that made Vivienne gag.
“Are we going to use the second floor for anything?” Vincent had a vague look on his face that most likely stood for bleakness in assessing their situation and studying the room before them
“Yeah...that’s where the cafe’s going to be...should we go from the top to the bottom?”
“I’d say so...at least the top floor looks like it has more windows.” Vincent sighed, “How long do you think this is going to take?”
“A while.” Vivienne said passively, rolling up her sleeves, “So we better get started now.”
