i was reading a fanfiction i honestly loved shadow in and the author got shit for not making shadow call sonic “faker” a hundred times, so thus shadow was super OOC apparently

like i’m all for flexible character interpretation and all that but........why would you call someone making a character closer to canon “OOC”..................wat

Their own smile falters a little at the lack of Sonic’s usual bravado. It’s what NiGHTS has grown accustomed to when interacting with him, so its absence is very noticeable and strange, at least to them.

“I’m all right…”

“Do you…want to do something, Sonic?” the violet dream being suggests, their hands settling upon their hips. “We could Dualize, if you’d like.”

NiGHTS doesn’t like seeing Sonic so downtrodden, so cheering him up is definitely in their best interests.

Did he ever tell NiGHTS about how sweet they are? They’re definitely taking it easy on him right now, not forcing him to talk about it -- and the offer to Dualize like that brings his smile a little wider. Maybe a little fly will do him some good. And what better a fly than one with a friend?

“Sure. I think I’d like that,” he confirms. “Sorry I’m a bit of a downer right now.”

He hates making others feel bad, after all. NiGHTS, being a good friend of his, included.
