This is not “baby’s first fandom.” I did not expect everyone to be eating me up in the replies, but I genuinely just have been frustrated by people mistaking au for canon. I have been in fandom spaces since age 10, I have been a marble hornets fan since I was 13, I have been a creepypasta fan since I was 8. I know Alex is not a proxy but I didn’t have a better word in mind, I know people are just having fun, i know AU’s and the like are fun. I enjoy them too!

This was me ranting, I know it’s been a thing for marble hornets fans to yell into the void about the fanon. I WAS THERE!!! Sometimes a girl just gets frustrated by things, it is literally just a tumblr post.

Clearly they're in love with them" I don't know if you guys have ever Had Friends but it's actually pretty common for people to feel jealous if their best friend suddenly has less time for them and is prioritising someone they just met over them. That's not inherently romantic, that's the general human desire to be valued by the people you value.
