Soft Opening: Il Mulino Uptown
My co-workers and I received a gracious invitation to a soft opening for friend's & family at Il Mulino Uptown.
A soft opening is when the staff and kitchen gets receives their first batch of rushes and works to facilitate efficiency and synergy between the front and back. We'll return for an in-depth review.
tuna carpaccio
beef carpaccio
mushroom ravioli
gnocchi al pesto
red snapper (they ran out of branzino)
warm zabaglione
tiramisu
Il Mulino Uptown 37 East 60th Street Upper East Side, New York
A New Yorker's Opinion: I'm not sure if the tiramisu was made on site, but it was THE BEST that I have ever had in a New York Restaurant (don't worry Grandma, you're still #1). The tableside preparation of zabaglione was really fun.—Neil
Photos: I forgot to bring the fancy camera and took these photos with the new iPhone. The photo quality it's still just "eh" in low light.
Another amazing lunch from the Chef's Table at Cafe57.

35 East 18th Street Flatiron District, New York
A New Yorker's Opinion: Get a reservation now. They are hard to get and you'll probably only find one for 5:30 pm or 9:30 pm, but take it! It's worth it; it lives up to the hype—and we've seen Michelle Obama, Kate Winslet and Jake Gyllenhaal there, so at least do it for the people watching. —Ale

DINNER: BOUCHON BISTRO (Napa Valley)
At first Ale was a little sad that we couldn't get into French Laundry, but after one bite of the Croque Madame, her eyes lit up.
Heirloom Tomato & Bread Salad ($13)
Croque Madame with a side of truffle fries ($21)—currently Ale's favorite dish
Gnocchi à La Parisienne ($23.50)
Bouchon Bistro 6534 Washington Street Yountville, Napa Valley, California
A New Yorker's Opinion: Though French Laundry is the Napa Valley headliner, Bouchon Bistro (also owned by Thomas Keller) will not disappoint. —Neil
