I suppose the time has come for me to list ten of my less-embarrassing favorite songs of the year since I don't want to post my actual top 10. Bask in the radiance of my semi-inaccurately-curated music taste if you so desire. No I will not be taking constructive criticism at this time.

Immaterial-SOPHIE: this is dance-pop at its finest. Seriously, try and stay still while listening to this. See? You can't. There's an unseen force compelling you to bounce slightly to it at the absolute least, don't lie.

Ode to Dance Floor-Niki & the Dove: contrary to what its title might imply, this song is less straight dance-floor banger so much as an odd, vaguely psychedelic funk jam through the vivid memories of an old relationship. The end result is as captivating and weirdly jammable as it is just plain confusing.

Track 10-Charli XCX: a gem by a sorely underrated pop queen, this song has some of the most bizarrely beautiful & recursive instrumentation I've ever heard in a "pop" song. This, combined with a tastefully-repetitive chorus and melody, creates an urgent, self-immolating emotional avalanche with cinematic flair. A totally captivating piece of pop music.

You're Not The One-Sky Ferreira: this song juxtaposes high energy and a great hook with lyrics about sad, drunken pining. Catch me crying while popping my pussy in the corner.

Ocean of Tears-Caroline Polachek: wheeeeew boy it should be blatantly obvious by now that I like sad indie pop jams so have another one.

Love on a Real Train-Tangerine Dream: This composition sounds what it feels like to have a relaxing trip. If you catch my drift. Blissful.

The Last Stand-Sabaton: am not & would never consider myself a metal fan, but this one feels more like baroque pop to me than anything which is why I guess I like it. A very intriguing act worth checking out overall.

money machine (AG Cook remix)-100 gecs: there's something deeply soothing about high-octane, melodic harsh noise with autotuned vocals.

Big Bone Lick-Bucket: no comment

Living In America-James Brown: discovering this song was one of the PRECIOUS few things I actually enjoyed about season 11 of RuPaul's Drag Race. Issa bop (the song obviously, not the season).

I’m considering coming out to my family as non-binary, and so today I brought up the subject of non-binary gendering/transgendering with my Dad as a casual conversational topic. He’s told me that if somebody is born a boy then they “should stay a fucking boy” and not trans to a girl or be a boy some days/girl other days/genderless other days.

I told him that I think gender identity should be something one can choose for themselves, and he says that nobody thinks like that and anybody who is trans/non-binary will just be shunned by every member of society they meet. He doesn’t think that people support n-b/t communities, because he doesn’t. He says to me that not staying one’s natural gender is wrong and against the point of being born a boy/girl.

Every person who reblogs this will have their URL written in a full-size writing book and when it is full I will show it to my father to illustrate to him the amount of people who believe that being non-binary is a valid gender identity.

“queer” is such a useless term. if i tell someone im bisexual, they know i am attracted to men and women. if a man tells me he is gay, i know he is a man exclusively attracted to other men. if someone tells me they are queer, it tells me nothing about them. it doesnt tell me who they attracted to. it tells me nothing about that person.

it doesn’t immediately tell you private information about someone’s sexuality or gender that you aren’t entitled to

and the person in question may not even know themselves, but queer is what they know they can always use if they’re not sure except they know theyre definitely not cis/straight

you hate it because it’s too inclusive and too broad. It’s supposed to be inclusive and broad. If someone tells you they’re queer then all you need to know is that they are in some way not cis or straight and other than that it aint your business. If being told someone’s identity is none of your business pisses you off, thats a you problem
