So excited to bankrupt myself for Mayerling
Please listen to this and tell me I’m not just going insane he is in fact miles better than he was last year.
(please do not link/share outside of tumblr!!)
RIGHT. So what was different about Killians phantom? It’s hard to describe because the answer is nothing but also everything. I always felt there was something missing from his portrayal that he was just Killian in a mask. But whatever was missing was no longer missing and he wasn’t just Killian in the mask he was the phantom, he lost himself in the part in a way I’ve not seen him do before.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying he is suddenly the greatest phantom ever to grace the stage but he is sooo much better. His acting was bigger, more dramatic and physical than before. There was also a kind of sexual magnetism there which he has been trying to put across before but actually really really worked tonight (and lbr I never thought I’d say that about him). His voice is also really benefiting from the more relaxed schedule of 6 shows a week.
I actually dropped my jaw in the finale when he went big and melodramatic moving his hand with his slowing heartbeat as he gasped for air. (Many may have hated this big gothic lit vibes and I adoooored it) he then slid the ring onto his finger while muttering along to “say you’ll share with me” before running over to the portcullis crying “Christine I love you” before he got in his little chair to die.
I think maybe he may have done some research on his little break and it has payed off big time. I never never ever ever thought Killian would give me 90s phantom vibes but God am I happy for him. I can see what he has been trying to do the whole time now and I’m praying he continues to do it with this energy.
Looks like Anouk and Jemal are on today! Both shows according to their insta posts

🎄MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!🎄
can’t believe earl carpenter is actually hot and talented. i’d sort of forgotten that.
Once again, James and Holly have broken the cuteness meter.
Really don't want to get or give anyone covid but also really do want to rush out and see all the theatre before the inevitable lockdown
Hi, love your account! This is a random question but I was wondering why different Phantoms wear their ring on different hands? RAH Ramin has it on his left hand, Killian on his right - just curious if one way is more common than the other?
I was about to blame Michael Crawford... Being left-handed, the quill at the organ was placed on the left side, and even if most Phantoms to follow him might have been right-handed the quill is still on the left side. The ring could have been a similar feature, but when I double-checked with photos he wears the ring on the right hand side - like here, in an original promo photo:
So moonwalking away from my initial thought I guess it's simply up to the actor? Both sides seems to be just as common; in the West End production alone they seem to switch back and forth. The benefit of wearing it on the left hand is that it comes well into view in the MOTN pose, but symbolically it kinda follows the mask when worn on the right hand. Both makes sense to me :)
Whatever the case, many Phantoms seems to stick to whatever they were first taught when going from one production to another. The ring appears on the left hand in almost all photos of Peter Karrie, be it in the UK or Canada. Same for Marcus Lovett on Broadway and in West End, and Ian Jon Bough in Stuttgart and in the World Tour:
On the other hand, Tomas Ambt Kofod started out wearing the ring on the right side when understudying the role of the Phantom in 2009, though the principals wore it on the left side. When Kofod became principal in 2018, he wore the ring on the left side - buuuuut his alternate John Martin Bengtsson wore it on the right side. So there's little consistency even within a production. Here's from the 2018-2019 run, with Kofod to the left and Bengtsson to the right:
In other words... your guess is as good as mine.
“Tik Tok but make it Theater.” (x)
Always loved the way some of the early 90s photos had the Phantom blending into the darkness.
Emilie Kouatchou (Christine) and Ben Crawford (the Phantom) in POTO Broadway ( x )
Perhaps we may frighten away the ghosts of so many years ago with a little…

Definitely one of my favorite lines from the musical and the most haunting set of notes.
