first korean lesson was this morning and it really lessened my anxiety. my tutor was very kind and patient, but also challenged me (which i need). this first lesson was more of a way for her to gauge where i'm at and my learning style. we went over how to say this, that, and that over there, how to order food, how to call over a waiter, how you should address staff in different types of restaurant settings, how to say this is delicious and varying degrees to emphasis how good or bad it is, how koreans shorten words, etc.

then she asked what i specifically am interested in learning (i want to work on pronunciation, sentence structure, and grammar) and explained what the next couple lessons will looks like and what they'll focus on. and it feels promising!

so!! i've been going crazy. like. one second i'm planning out everything im going to do, feeling lucky and like everything is going my way and gosh life is so beautiful and then an hour later life is pointless, all i do is work, i only have maybe 3 hours to "myself" before i have to go to bed (not really bc i have to cook, clean, and prepare for work the next day), the world's on fire and there's no meaning to anything. shits on a constant loop my brain is not a fun space to be in.

BUT i'm trying to do more so im not just going to work, going home, be on my phone, sleep, and repeat. i wanted to take some sort of art class but where i live theres not a lot a places that do those, and the ones that do don't do them or are closed on my one guaranteed day off. which lead me to finding a tutor to teach me korean!! i miss being in school, i like studying and learning, and ive been on and off trying to teach myself the language but i need discipline and structure, both of which i cant provide for myself. my first session is on sunday and im really nervy but i want to watch k movies without subtitles and understand the nuance of ateez lyrics that you can't get in english translations.
