op turned reblogs off so i'm putting this here because i want it on my blog
Being nice is important and all but i want yall to look at the president of the united states and ask yourself if maybe we need to say it sometimes
We do not. For one, fascism is not a disability and it's incredibly shitty to just ascribe all bigotry to disability, especially since disabled people are often the targets of said bigotry. Also, Trump isn't actually affected in any way by insults, regardless of whether or not they are slurs. Calling him the R-word has exactly the same impact as calling him a poo-poo face. You know who is affected by ableist slurs though? Disabled people. You know, the people Trump hates? You're playing right into his hands with this shit.
The normalization of words like r*tard is a symptom of the rise in fascism worldwide that's been going on since 2014, as is the normalization of right-wing slang that was initially used on sites like 4chan. By calling Trump that word you're participating in the cultural shift that made him rise to power and is making large swathes of society, even if they explicitly are trying not to be fascist, become more hateful, bigoted, and easy to radicalize. It is also notable that the words becoming normalized are becoming more and more extreme- first its Chad, looksmaxxing, etc, then it's r*tard, and now you have people who claim to be anti fascists defending people saying things like ZOG and "goyslave". Some of this is being perpetuated by bots as well yeah, for the purposes of spreading fear and capturing weak links, but those bots are impacting real people and the way they think.
Don't use fascist and bigoted terminology. Have some fucking principles.
