please visit your local library!!

i’ve reblogged some things about local libraries before, but i need everyone to know how amazing they are. it doesn’t matter where you are, every library is going to have people doing their best for their community - it’s genuinely so beautiful to me. libraries are wonderful places, even if you don’t need a book.

my partner and i went to the library the other day to get our library cards (just moved), and they have so many more resources than i realized. we were able to take home info on:

local food resources

local housing resources

local emergency hotlines for various needs / situations

our rights when dealing with law enforcement / 🧊 (they had wallet-sized cards in like 6 or 7 languages!)

local seed libraries and how to access them

stuff from the local extension office about how to make your yard more bird friendly (i assume the topic rotates semi regularly)

the streaming services available through the library

the digital library and all the formats it has available

and that’s just the stuff they had on pamphlets. that’s not even beginning to list the other things our library had available:

books (including manga, graphic novels, and some comics)

other physical media (music, audiobooks on CD, movies, TV shows)

book club kits

computer and internet access (our library sells memory sticks so you can take your work home, and most will loan headphones too!)

a computer designated for coding

printing that’s fairly inexpensive (our library is $0.25 per page)

events and clubs that meet at the library

a corkboard with events, clubs, and resources outside the library

programs, games, and resources for kids and their parents

free bookmarks designed by kids in the local school system

and more stuff i probably missed!!

with fascism and censorship starting to take root in the US, it’s even more important to support libraries. they’re some of the first fixtures to be dismantled by fascists because knowledge and community are power. fascism hates a knowledgable and connected populace - they want us dumb and alone. libraries are some of the most helpful places to visit when life gets hard. they provide a quiet place to rest, as well as resources to make things better.

so please visit your local libraries. and maybe say a weird druid on the internet send you. /|\

mannnnn waiting for test results is a special kind of torture. i had an MRI on monday, and i’m still waiting for the results. i’ve been feeling my neurological symptoms get worse and worse for the past two weeks, and it’s just scaring me - waiting and feeling myself progress like this. “hurry up and wait.” hell on earth.

still no update on the MRI, and i keep feeling more icky. neuro said on our last call to go to the hospital and/or call them again if things get worse. calling them today to see what they have to say, since things are, in fact, getting worse. wish me luck ✌🏻

it was clean. waiting for neuro to call mw back in the morning. i feel like everyone is telling me there’s nothing wrong but i feel like my brain is eating itaelf. idk what to do

neuro is assuming this is a really severe migraine, so they’re giving me new meds and a course of steroids, then following up in 4 weeks. they said if the new meds dont help or if i keep deteriorating to go to the ER for more extensive testing. i feel like i’m beating my head against a wall. i’m about to give up.
