You’re sitting in the front row in the courthouse, right behind Bakugou and Midoriya, who are speaking quietly as they go through a few papers on the desk in front of them. The judge strolls in, and everyone in the room stands, Bakugou smoothes his dark suit, sneaking a glance at you. 

“All Rise for the honorable Judge Aizawa.” The judge, with long dark hair tied behind his head, and a sleepy, bored expression, bangs his gavel on the desk. 

“Court is in session. Mr. Bakugou, deliver your opening statement.” Greta from the R.R. diner is sitting next to you, on the other side of you is Ms. Mcallen, looking flushed and nervous. She turns to you, hands shaking. 

“Kita’s upset with me.” You nod. “He could lose his job if the plant closes.” You meet her in her watery blue gaze. “But I don’t care,” she says, “not if it means he’ll live longer than my husband.” You squeeze her hand. Bakugou buttons his jacket and stands in front of the jury. 

“Ladies and Gentleman,” he says gruffly, “I’m a cynical man. A rational man. There’s not a single one of you that isn’t already familiar with the vague details of this case, regardless of the fact that you’re neutral. It seems open and shut. They’re gonna try and tell you,” he jerks a thumb at the defense team, “That there was no conspiracy, a simple mistake, human error. I’m going to show each and every one of you that not one, not two, not three, but at least seventeen times in the last 60 years some brave soul raised the flag, that these cesspools,” he clicks a remote and on a projection screen he flicks through aerial photos. “That have been leaking into watersheds, not just in Pennsylvania, but in Maine, in Colorado, in Florida, in New Jersey, and in California.” He clicks the projector to something different, a report of faulty pool drainage, dated 1983.

We’d like to make it very clear that this blog supports the Protect Asian Lives and Stop Asian Hate movement.
