Showing my friends this when they say “AI is accurate, reliable and not scary”
These two are supposed to be the same picture
These two are also supposed to be the same picture
If you are on a Windows 11 computer, pause everything you are doing for one minute and:
Open computer settings
Click on Accessibility on the left-hand menu
Scroll down the Accessibility menu and click on the Keyboard Option
Under the "related settings" tab, click "Typing" which should have a description of "spellcheck, autocorrect, text suggestions."
Turn off the AI "correct misspelled words"
and most importantly: turn off Typing Insights.
[ID: a screenshot of the above mentioned Windows 11 settings, showing that Typing Insights is now turned off, with the following description from Microsoft: "Windows is using artificial intelligence to help you type To help you save time and type efficiently, Windows can learn to suggest words, autocorrect spelling mistakes, and interpret swiped typing. Take a look at the insights below to see up-to-the-minute stats on how Windows has learned to improve typing for you. These stats are stored only on this device and Microsoft does not collect the typing insights data." End ID]
"But Mx. November, it says right there Microsoft doesn't collect the typing insights data!"
I mean, yeah, it says that..... for *now.*
It also only specifies that Microsoft themselves don't collect it, and they wouldn't have made this something that I was automatically, secretly opted in for without my knowledge if they didn't have something to be gained by me not knowing it exists!
I only found this because a cat walked on the keyboard and turned on Filter Keys and while trying to figure out why my keyboard was just making chirping noises instead of typing, I happened to click on "typing insights" by accident.
Generative AI, and especially AI that is used to "personalize" and track your activity across the web and on your computer are never going to be in your best interest, it is always going to serve these companies in whatever way will line their pockets the most, and all it takes is updating their terms of service once, and then all of that data they promised they weren't collecting suddenly all belongs to them.

HOW TO TURN OFF GOOGLE AI in GMAIL:
Open Gmail in your browser
Click on the Gear Icon ⚙️ in the upper right
In the General Tab, scroll down to "Smart Features" and UNCHECK THE BOX. It is about halfway down.
Then, right below that is Google Workspace smart features. Click on the "Manage Workspace Smart Features" and make sure both toggles are OFF
I have finally found a name. He is Tadpole.
So here is Tadpole visiting the pumpkins.
Beginner
Intermediate
Advanced
Self-taught one work-in-progress at a time so that there’s some beginner stuff I don’t know and advanced stuff that I do know and I will forever be making silly beginner mistakes in complex projects that I’ll probably never complete :)
I'm shaking
*edit: THE MAIN UPDATE IS AVAILABLE FOR SWITCH 1 AND 2. the switch 2 exclusive features are mouse controls, 12 people visiting an island at once, and using the new camera and microphone features*
HUGE boosting this!!! if your food stamps are going to be lost in November, and you have the money to spare, or have it to spare for a friend, please, eat for me!
HE LIVES!!!!!
I had to change basically everything about him but my son's alive! I used a slightly rougher yarn to hopefully cling to the skeleton better and the skeleton is now made of pipe cleaners instead of jewelry wire so the whole thing won't be as slippery as last time. And his skull is a wooden hair bead instead of being nothing at all. I also made him a teddy bear and card to make him feel better.
Said it a year ago and I’ll say it again.
Pirate all your favorite shows, movies and games while you still have the chance.
Oh, and never stop supporting physical media.
whistles
trips
Oh no!! I just tripped Over this rock in The Garden! They really need to put up some kind of Wall… and I dropped my Link all over the ground…
I really need To Watch where I’m going, geez…
@midnightnautilus I love you, kindly stranger.
MY SON!!!!!!!!
I drew this stupid burger I saw that brings me comfort and joy
I have birthed you a son! His head is a little wonky and spins around for some reason but I love him. Also the tips of his hands and feet keep unraveling how do I fix that?
I'm making a little guy.
I collect dolls (big shocker, I know) and am also a big disability advocate so of course my natural solution to one of my oldest Barbies having broken leg joints is to make her some mobility aids.
(Her leg joints are loose and do not work anymore, so her legs cannot hold her weight, she just flops over)
I made her a little Rollator with a removable cushion, along with some (very temporary) leg braces. She’ll be getting new braces soon.
I’m very pleased with how it turned out! And it works perfectly for her to help her stand up on my shelf.
