@achillbeing , I already made a post about it responding to someone else, but will gladly summarize it for you, kindly fellow!

Short version:

There are times when being able to translate concepts or practices into common speech is important, especially when your job is to help someone else understand.

And,

There are times when using terms in place of broader concepts leads to gross negligence that can effect someone for life,

And,

People who are unused to terms and concepts frequently are overly stringent about using said terms, even if what they’re saying is either nonsense or functionally meaningless, but using that technical speech still makes them sound Sharp to the uninitiated, and I find that appearances increasingly matter more in fields like this, so that kind of laziness is frequently rewarded.

(Example from work: using “stimulation” and “regulation” for everything, as if that is useful. Every action is either to stimulate/regulate or communicate, so saying “They do x for self regulation” translates to “They do the thing. Because”. Babe, use your head and use your words; what you said tells me nothin’.)

when i was 8 i had a very intimidating russian woman as a music teacher- she was both my opera instructor and piano teacher. about a month into piano, she sat me down and said to my mother and i "this child- very beautiful voice, good for singing. i will not allow this child to continue piano. god did not want this child to play an instrument. he told me this in dreams. that is all."

my mom had it written down on a slip so we could remember the exact words because it was so funny. i HATED playing piano and i was definitely not good at it (i did end up having a good 5 years of opera training and ended up being a pretty accomplished choir singer though) and the idea of god sending my incredibly severe and serious russian piano teacher a dream begging her to stop teaching me piano was probably the funniest way it could have gone.

I once bought these cute little cheese bowties from Aldis but was shocked to find them spicy without forewarning (or visual tell, like flecks of peppers).

It turned out that those lil’ bowties were an extremely rare example of non-pasturized milk being sold in food products, and the weird spice-to-numb was not an intended effect.
