To be fluent or proficient in a language, you must conquer the ego that tells you that you can or should know everything there is to know about any language in zero time with zero effort.

But the most freeing thing about learning a language is understanding that all your mistakes and things that you don’t know all at once are incredibly natural, expected, and in no way make you an idiot or a failure.

si clauses/conditional sentences

I love these sentence structures, but I find it hard to have the combinations all in one place. Use these sentences to express a hypothetical. Here you go:

Si +

Present/futur

Si je finis mes devoirs, je sortirai avec toi. 

Si +

Imparfait/conditionnel présent

Si tu te reposais en peu plus, tu aurais plus d’energie et travaillerais mieux.

Si +

Plus-que-parfait/conditionnel passé

Si nous avions pris cette route, nous serions arrivés bien plus tôt jusqu’au refuge.

Notes:

This works for all sentence structures here: the “si” part can be at the beginning OR end of a sentence.        -Si j’avais eu plus d’argent, j’aurais pu repartir dans ma ville natale.          -J’aurais pu repartir dans ma ville natale, si j’avais edu plus d’argent.

English speakers: take note of the imparfait/condititionnel présent combination. Be sure to memorize it! It’s not intuitive if you translate these sentences into English! 

Formation of conditionnel passé:          -AVOIR/ÊTRE auxilariry in conditionnel present + participe passé

Formation of plus-que-parfait:        -AVOIR/ÊTRE in imparfait + participe passé

Every word that starts with an N should have a silent G in front. Gnorway. Gnuclear. Gnervous system. Gnipples.

At some point my brain decided based on the word knee that body parts beginning with a n sound should have a silent k (particularly the word neck) so I am against gnipples wholeheartedly, it should clearly be knipples!

How about a compromise? Gn words and kn words get switched. So now it’s gneecaps and gnowledge, but it’s also knome and Knosticism.

the problem with this is that it doesn’t account for the original dilemma, which was gnipples vs. knipples 

I, for one, think it should be pnipples, like pneumonia
