I am a student studying psychology with an emphasis on special education, and will have my Cognitive Impairment (CI) and Emotional Impairment (EI) endorsements when I graduate IN ONE YEAR. I have have teacher assisted for a semester, completed my EI student teaching (which was absolutely fabulous), and I have a year of student teaching left; 1 semester in a second grade general education classroom, and 1 semester in a classroom that services students with cognitive impairments. I am excited for what this next year brings, and even more excited to see where I end up teaching my first year out of school. So... since I am a total nerd and I love research in special education, psychology & education in general...so I created this page to post things I find interesting :D

Just thought I would share. This goes great with the one posted last week about setting up a simple classroom management plan. One thing I wish was added to these articles about CM is that the tighter your lesson plan is, the less behavior issues you are going to have in your classroom.

I echo the sentiment  on a well thought out lesson plan that also includes ideas if things go not as planned.

Review existing IEPs, 504s, or other services plans- pay special attention to what you are responsible for implementing (accomodation, instruction toward goals and benchmarks, etc).

Write a letter to parents introduce yourself, explain any programs you will be...
