ok guys who's ready to talk about the accessorization of children and teens by their parents and adults in general !! mainly with parents not recognizing a spawn as their own person who CAN and most often ARE different and seperate from their parents instead of just being a cute little mini-me?

who wants to talk about parents who refuse to accept the possibility of not having a "normal" kid? because "noooo, you don't understand! my kid would NEVER do that/hasn't said anything to me about it and if they were, they would/is just a dramatic teen, you know how they are at this age."

also, there's a lot to be said about disabled kids. if a parent decides to abort their pregnancy because their kid would be disabled...I have mixed opinions on it.

for one, if its because the parent(s) would not be able to accommodate their kids disability (due to financial, situational, or otherwise "I cant but if I could, I would" reasons) then I think that's pretty reasonable.

but for another, if its simply cause "I don't want a disabled child" then its like...ok so you love your child conditionally.

"I don't want a disabled child because I can't do the extra responsibilities" vs "I don't want a disabled child because I don't want to do the extra responsibilities"

cause it implies that to be decent to another being, you have to have empathy and/or sympathy for that being. which is like...no?? sure, it could help, as understanding is a common path towards respect and therefore: towards acting decent.

but still, you don't HAVE to understand someone to not treat them horribly. you don't even have to RESPECT someone to not treat them horribly!

understanding and empathy means nothing when mistreatment and hatred stays the same.
