This new remastered version of Stillwater has a new point-and-click system, character animations, new endings, and more!
👻 available to play for free on itch.io and steam!
I enjoyed playing! The art direction is absolutely stunning, from the sprites to the background to the interface. The audio is picked well. Everything lends itself to the overall noir detective vibe, while still feeling unique and original. The good ending is especially sweet, and I like what's revealed about the characters in the little time we get to know them.
Would definitely recommend playing if you haven't already!
Stillwater
A short visual novel (by @studioclump) where a private investigator gets reeled into a murky mystery, entangled in lies, secrets, and a family curse.
YOU GUYS IT’S DECEMBER 10TH YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THIS HAS BEEN IN MY QUEUE SINCE FEBRUARY
you have the rest of the day to reblog this
Me at literally every instance of “Merry Christmas” I see because it isn’t Christmas. It’s December 10th.
it actually is insane to me that it's a cultural norm for men to suck ass at getting their wives/gfs gifts. especially when they whine about how they have no idea what women like.
man, you're not getting a gift for Female Domestic Partner. you're getting a gift for Natalie, a person whom you have been married to for 7 years, whom has lived in the same home with you for a decade, whom speaks to you every day about her thoughts and interests, whom you presumably love, and whom you can directly or indirectly ask what she wants. it's not that you don't know what half the human population wants, that's irrelevant. you don't know what Natalie wants and that is inexcusable.
I try to be very normal about Star Trek, but don't try and tell me the Kelvin universe Enterprise is less than 725 meters long
This is why art is important, in case you were wondering.
And kids will be so productive if you make it a game. I bet at least 50% of the kids who met this sculpture went and intentionally hunted for litter to feed it.
CAN THE BRITISH N IRISH BE USEFUL FOR THE ONE TIME PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Popular in the 18th and 19th century, dance cards were used by women to record the names of their dance partners. It appears these cards were also used for a question-and-answer game requiring prospective dancers to answer a riddle before being granted a dance.
Newberry call number: Wing Ephemera File, Des Arts Studios
(The riddle game thing wasn’t typical of dance cards.)
The cards would tell you what kinds of dances would be played and when, and sometimes gave the names of the musical pieces that would be played.
^As you can see, this one tells you when supper is served and when the ball ends. You can see from the different handwriting that the gentlemen wrote their own names on the lady’s dance card.
Usually ladies kept dance cards, but here’s one from 1892 that was used by a man–which would have been handy, because it might be hard to remember whom you had promised to dance with!
(^source) Apparently he wanted to spend a lot of time with MIS! (The archive that keeps this card doesn’t seem to think that this might be a woman’s card from a women-only affair, such as a dance at a women’s college, where women would have had only women on their cards. But I digress.)
Sometimes the dance cards were printed in creative shapes, like this one, which is made to look like a fan:
Dance cards were given out to attendees when they arrived, and as you can see, they came with a little attached pencil and hung on a loop of string so you could wear it on your wrist and not lose it while dancing. Because NO POCKETS.
I don’t know WHAT the heck is going on with that 1892 card! Not only is there a reversal of gender roles going on à la some kind of Sadie Hawkins dance, it would have been rude to the point of scandal at a normal dance to monopolize anybody’s time for more than two or three dances. But this Merry Andrew is squiring Kate Cullen around the floor four times, and M.I.S. a shocking eleven! They’ll be the talk of the town after a public display like that! I wonder if it was a Twelfth Night or Boxing Day ball, or some other holiday associated with turning social norms on their ear.
Re: the March and Circle/Grand March at the top of the programs, that’s such a fun part of 19th century balls. It’s basically a chance for everybody to walk around the room and get a good look at everybody else. It’s a kind of close-order drill that would make Busby Berkeley proud.
during these exciting times (heated rivalry) i am once again encouraging you guys to watch women’s hockey, where this ACTUALLY publicly happens
the PWHL season is on now, watch it on TSN/CBC/Sportsnet in Canada and on YouTube in the USA/internationally!!

Gaidhlig and Scots become official languages in Scotland today with the Scottish Languages Act coming into force after it was voted on back in June.
Key parts of the legislation includes the right for parents to request Gaelic schools for their local area, and will help with standardisation of language teaching across the board.
Good signs for the future. In the future would be very interested to see parents (and everyone else) getting access to the same learning materials so they can learn alongside their kids.
Congratulations, Scotland!!!
