There is a lot of chatter on the intranet-verse out there about how motivation doesn’t really get you there but its about doing what’s needed to be done no matter how you feel so instead of being motivated you have to be dedicated and determined and stay the course. Admittedly it’s true. You wont always be motivated, but the most important factor in becoming good, or even great at anything is continually doing it no matter what. Motivated or not. I have to admit I agree with both. Yes, Motivation won’t get you there but what if you make the motivation the part to be dedicated to. Yes, I do it because I love it, when things are dark and I don’t feel like doing it, I motivate myself to get it done. Yes, it’s dedication to both that makes us go so much farther. Whatever works for you, I think what has worked for me is making the need to get to the results I am after more and more important than the reason why I don’t want to, thus making the dedication easier by motivating myself of the outcome. It’s a long game, Yes, it’s going to take a while but heck, if you don’t start now and get it done today, its going to take even longer and you are definitely going to prolong the suck even more. What do you do you to chase down those hard to do sessions, I am just starting out again after almost six months of o training and I have to say I feel even more focussed and more alive than before and even though I am not hitting all the targets I’m definitely moving forward and getting to the rewards is getting closer and closer!
