Something I absolutely love is not caving into the pressure of "you HAVE to watch popular gay show the writing is actually competent and they won't ruin it this time" and being like "hmmm I don't know... I watched popular gay show before and it turned bad..." only to much later get your door knocked on and it's your mutuals crestfallen and you get to be like "let me guess. it turned bad."

creature spotlight: The Centaur

fun fact about this thing is that it also first appeared to me in a dream!! in the original dream it looked a bit different, it was double ended and had huge furry hooves like a draft horse. this was the closest I could get to what it looked like:

I fixed it up a bit and changed it to be more deer-like because I enjoyed the idea of it walking like a spider. it's just a little creep. it also was the first draft of the story's antagonist (back in 2019) before I pivoted in another direction

this version of the story was really different lol. but this creature isn't evil so it felt wrong to have it be the Big Bad. to me it's this story's equivalent of the cheshire cat

originally I was toying with the idea of giving it a lot of assorted markings and patterns but simple is better so those aren't there anymore. its ruff also used to be very costumey looking as per its original appearance in my dream, but I changed it to make it a little more integrated into its body like a lion's mane. its mouth never opens (except for when it would be really dramatic) or even moves at all. it doesn't frown or look neutral or widen its grin. nobody knows how it actually speaks. or sees either

it also always refers to itself as "we". will we ever find out why? likely not
