❝ you’re my favorite sin to commit. ❞

❝ sometimes, home has a heartbeat. ❞
From “Proofs Without Words” by Roger Nelsen.

I almost touch what I love with my hand, it is so near- Ah, but that ‘almost’ often moves me to tears!
Ovid, Heroides XVIII (Leander to Hero) 179-180
Reina took a deep breath and forced her irritation down, taking the keys from him. “Thank you. I guess I just wasn’t paying attention. I didn’t mean to snap,” she bit out, although steel still lied underneath her tone.
“No, no, not at all, it’s fine. I’m just glad you got them back.” He smiled slightly, didn’t particularly want to irritate her further. But he asked, “Sorry, I hate to ask, but are you quite alright?”

idiot kid || isaiah + edward
Isaiah nodded slowly. If the young man’s antics were an act than he was the best actor Isaiah had ever seen. No. It seemed like this Edward was a frightened little hamster in Isaiah’s presence, not that it wasn’t a familiar feeling for him. However, most of his immortal constituents did their best to hide any nervous energy in his presence.
“I can see that and I’d encourage you to continue to do so. The Council that makes the rulings around here really don’t like too many disturbances in Antioch.” Isaiah didn’t fear the Council, but that didn’t mean he didn’t think they had no power. The announcement of Jackson Waya’s trial was enough evidence of that.
“How old are you, Mr. Coverly?” After pausing for a moment he added, “your real age, if you please.” As always Isaiah’s polite and careful choice of words did little to hide that the request wasn’t really a request.
The council, this was the second person he’d heard mention it. First that blonde girl from the woods - not Iseult, somebody else. He couldn’t remember. Her name hadn’t seemed important at the time. “The council?” Edward wasn’t totally sure if asking questions was within his right, here, but he didn’t think he’d be chastised for it. “Could you possibly expand on that?”
The question made him pause for a moment, uncertain. Think, Edward. If there was ever a time to be precise, it was now. “Two-hundred and...” Shit, he had no idea. If he had access to the internet, he’d be able to look it up, but off the top of his head, he had no idea. “About two-hundred and twenty, maybe thirty.”
Edward had met immortals who didn’t know exactly how old they were, but the vast majority of the time it was when they were ancient. Those over a millennia old. He’d never met somebody as young as himself who couldn’t answer such a simple question. He honestly felt a little humiliated.
“My documentation here puts me at eighteen, though,” he added.

I love you like I love the sea. And I’m okay with drowning.

“I swear on my life, if you don’t have something really important to say to me right now, then shut your mouth and walk away. I am too stressed for any bullshit right now.”
Edward hesitated for a second, not wanting to irritate her more, but decided this was important. “Sorry, I think you dropped this,” he said, holding out the set of keys he’d picked up.
no place like home, no place like him.
Edward very rarely did things by halves. Downloading every song Pulp had ever made was just a small example of this. Getting too into it and singing along on what he thought was an empty bus was another. How was he supposed to know that somebody was sat several seats behind him?
