There is a tantalizing notion that my family might actually travel this upcoming Summer, and a tentative plan which makes the tantalization a harder-to-ignore frustrating temptation. Normally we don’t travel much, my husband, my son and I, for my son is a young, special needs child, and logistics of various sorts do not work in our favor. In fact, normally we don’t even really get out into the city we live in. The aforementioned is part of why the plan to travel exists – we sorely need what in theory would be a brief “escape” from our usual lives. There are a number of friends, half a country away, that were rather annoyed with us for moving out here to New York a few years ago, and which are plotting to pool their resources to import us for an extended weekend visiting with them. My husband normally tries to take a vacation week for our anniversary anyway, and that anniversary week tends to overlap with the Renaissance Festival that the majority of the friends involved in this scheme, are involved with. That would be the Bristol Renaissance Faire, which is often considered Chicago’s faire, but which is actually in Kenosha, WI. The theory is that we would fly out there on a Friday, stay with some of them, spend Saturday and Sunday visiting with everyone all day at the RenFest, and then return home on Monday, having been refreshed and happily reunioned.
