“You’d replace me so quickly? I’m hurt,” he exclaimed, pressing his hand to his chest in mock pain. “Don’t worry, I’ve been bringing my A game since I was around six, maybe, five--those two years blur together. Though, you doing some of the work for me does sound pretty appealing. You can be my sidekick,” Buzz joked, playfully nudging her arm.

Getting a bit starry-eyed, Maria blinked. “Wow. I’m talking to a future astronaut. I’ve met princesses and a god but so far an astronaut sounds more exciting,” she teased, nudging him a bit before laughing softly. “–wait, flying as in being a regular pilot? I want to be an astronaut now.”

“I top a God? That is one very high standard, but I’ll take it. I’ll make sure I live up to it just for you,” he winked, a goofy grin plastered across his face. “Yeah! You can still go out and explore and all that jazz, it’s just the responsibility of actually getting into space. I mean, I’d tell you to go for it, but I don’t know if I’d have a chance at NASA competing against you; you seem...determined.”

“Yikes, uh, that’s rough,” Buzz said softly, unable to fathom ever getting anything less than a ninety. “You want a tutor? I’m pretty good all around if you need help.”

“You will, just believe it,” she encouraged, nodding wisely. “July 20th 1969. What do you need to do to become an astronaut? Entrance exam…?”

“Oh, a lot more than that. You need a bachelors degree in one of a few areas--I’m going for biological science. Uh, there’s also passing the space physical, and if you don’t you don’t have a chance, really. Oh, and if I want to fly, I’m gonna need 1,000 hours of flying prior to even applying,” Buzz explained, eyes alight with excitement. “It seems kinda daunting, but I don’t think it’s that bad. All you need is dedication, really.”

As Babette felt his hands move to her hips she smirked slightly. She knew others where watching, but that she was used to. She was just hoping the one she needed to see this was seeing it. All of her attention was drawn back to the kiss as soon as she felt his teeth along her bottom lip. That was one of her favorite kissing techniques. She let out a soft sigh.

Her faint hum of a sigh against his lips sent them up at the corners, and Buzz pulled her slightly closer. “Babette,” he whispered, pulling his lips from hers just a fraction. “Is he..?” he added, quirking an eyebrow.

“Gigantic obnoxious scissors,” Maria nodded in mock solemnity before bursting into laughter. Hearing his explanation about his nickname, she gasped softly, positively beaming. “An astronaut! Oh, my goodness—that’s amazing—okaym Buzz Aldrin, I have to look him up. The moon landing in the 60s, yes?”

“Perfect, it’s a dream come true,” he managed to get out before falling into a fit of laughter. “Amazing as long as I make it that far. But, yeah, July 20th, 1969. That’s the one you want.”

“I’m an astronaut,” Buzz sang as he strolled through campus, flashing bright smiles at students and teachers alike. “Are you an astronaut? I don’t think so. I’m an actual astronaut. I’m going to space.”

She felt his slight grin and matched it. She could feel him parting her lips with his own and she couldn’t lie, she liked it. Though her eyes were closed she was listening intently for any sound that might indicate someone around. She used her hands to pull his head even closer keeping her hands in his hair.

Though he was slightly on edge, Buzz convinced himself to focus on here and now, allowing his hands to drop from her waist to her thin hips. He was sure that by this point they’d gotten some attention from the others lingering around the courts, but he didn’t dare break away and look. Instead, Buzz playfully dragged his teeth over her bottom lip as he attempted to shake the feeling that they were being watched.

She kisses him back and runs her hand through his hair. His lips were soft, but not as soft as Huey’s. She couldn’t help, but thinking of Huey. She knew better, but after this she knew she would be over him. To try to get Huey as far away from her mind so she deepened the kiss by pressing her body closer to his.

Buzz couldn’t help but grin against her lips as she raked her fingers through his hair; it was an action he’d loved since his first kiss. His eyebrows rose a fraction as she pushed herself closer, though he willingly obliged, parting her lips a bit more with his own.

She giggled at the boy and took a step closer as well. She tucked her hands behind her back. She glanced around and saw a figure coming towards them. “Well, I’m going to kiss you and I think that’s him. Quick wrap your arms around me.” She quickly moved her hands around his neck. “Are you ready?” She whispered.

“Okay.” Buzz raised his eyebrows, but quickly wound his arms around her waist to pull her body flush to his own. “Stop talking,” he murmured, smiling a bit before leaning down to press his lips gently to hers.

Babette had just messaged Buzz. She had gotten some information that Huey would be coming down to the basketball court today, so she knew this would be the perfect time to finish off the plan. Her heart was racing, but she didn’t know what from. She turned around  to see just the boy she was hoping for. “Hello Buzz, are you ready?”

“As ready as I’ll ever be,” he responded sweetly, taking a step closer to the nearing brunette. “How are we doing this? Is he here?” he inquired, quickly glancing around the court despite the fact that he had no idea what the boy looked like.

“Why yes it is. Just tell me when, so I can wipe the floor with you.” She said confidently as she tried to stand just a little taller. “That is true actually. There isn’t enough happening honestly. I bet they do somewhere hidden on this huge campus.” She giggled softly.

“Once again, we’ll see about that. We need a punishment for the loser, though,” he added, shooting her a pointed look as he suppressed a laugh. “I t might be hidden somewhere, who knows?”

“Well then we need to settle this soon don’t we?” She said looking him dead in the eyes. “Well, I guess that’s what practice is for, right? Wait, is there a golf course here?” She asked in an amazed curiosity.

“I believe a show down is in order,” he responded coolly, keeping his gaze tied to her own. “I guess. It is a bit of a boring sport, though. Uh, I’m not sure? Maybe? I feel like they’ve got everything here, so it’s possible.”

“Sí, I just talked to the Headmistress about it, and she says that the plaque should be up by this afternoon,” she countered, smirking a bit. “Buzz? Is that…how did you get that name from Edwin…?” she had to ask, her confusion extending to their handshake, her movement hesitant.

“Perfect. Will there be a ceremony and a big red ribbon for me to cut with obnoxiously large scissors?” He questioned with a raised brow, smirk mirroring her own. “Oh, I’m going to be an astronaut--it’s what I’ve always wanted to do. My parents gave me the nickname Buzz after Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon,” he explained, happily shaking her hand.

“Yes, I know. I am a tiny little person.” She stuck her tongue out at him. “Oh yeah, totally. Just so you know I’m gonna kick your ass. My shot is perfect.” She laughs at him teasingly with a wink. “Oh really? Perfect? I don’t know if it was perfect, then I think you would be better at it.” She teases him as she lightly pushes his shoulder.

“Only in your dreams,” he countered, nudging her shoulder. “Hey, your form can be fine, but there’s got to be something else you’re doing wrong. I just don’t know what that something is yet,” he reasoned, smiling softly.

She giggled at his enthusiasm. He was a bit goofy, but Babs liked him. She hoped after this they could be friends. “Trust me, I know about being short.” She giggled. “That’s pretty cool. I play basketball, and I’v been told I’m actually really good. Wait, what is it about golf? That seems like something easy.”

“You’re only--no actually you are kind of short,” he teased, pursing his lips to hold back a laugh. “Oh, I love basketball! We should have a little scrimmage sometime and determine the basketball champion,” he said, quirking his eyebrows. “I don’t know, really. I have perfect form and all that but for some reason my hand eye coordination is a little off and the ball never goes very far. Plus after a while your arms get really tired from all the swinging.”

She couldn’t help but laugh even more at the boy. “That’s good. Your lips are pretty important for this. I’ll find the time and let you know.” She winks back at him. “I don’t know. He did just get in a fight with someone else, so he is already kind of beat up from that. Wait, do you actually box?” She quirked an eyebrow at him.

“Perfect,” he said a bit too enthusiastically, happily slipping his hands into his pockets. “I’ve seen people bounce back in a matter of days, though,” he pointed out. “Not that I’m really worried, though. Being shorter has its perks,” he added, nodding at her question. “I do just about everything. Except golf, I can’t get golf for some reason.”
