Ghost: Hellbent progress update
Heya everyone, we are still plugging away on the Hellbent video. While we’ve made some good progress this month, we unfortunately won’t be able to finish it for October. We don’t have a set date in mind at the moment, but we like to think we can get it out this year.
A majority of the raw animation is completed by now. We are about halfway through background art. Afterward will be effects, fixes, and final compositing.
We apologize for not being able to make it in time of our preferred release date, but we want to make sure the video is as polished as we can make it. We will keep everyone posted when we have a release date set in stone.
Beyond that, we do have some extra things in the works.
This here is a schematic for an official Mystery plush. We’ve gotten a prototype made and are continuing to make adjustments. We aren’t quite sure how we’re going to fund the production, but we’ll let everyone know when we have things more solidified.
Again, we apologize we weren’t able to get stuff out to ya’ll faster, but thank you for sticking with us and we hope to have content for everyone before too long.

I’m seeing a lot of people complain about Gladstone’s new hair cause they can’t figure it out.
I’ve looked at the different angles presented and the ONLY way his hair works… is if it’s a Mohawk.

The Battle of Custody
Sharing what was meant to be a happy fun plot that I’m somehow made sad when I wrote it out. (probably because I’ve been writing too much sad stuff)
I’m calling it “The Battle of Custody!”
So Della’s just gone missing. Donald is still in shock, the only thing he’s clinging to is HDL everything else is just, nope, not dealing with that.
Scrooge is trying to help, Donald (and HDL) are in the mansion, but he has no idea how to deal, Donald isn’t speaking to him (or at all really, but Scrooge is a bit self centered) and nothing Scrooge does seems to help. He can’t even pick up one of the triplets without Donald taking the duckling off of him. (Yes Scrooge, because attempting to leave Donald’s sight with one of the only things he has left of his sister is a great idea.)
The family holds a remembrance service for Della (she’s missing not dead)
Scrooge makes sure Donald attends (with HDL since Donald won’t let them out of his sight)
The family starts drawing up battle lines almost immediately.
Donald’s generation just gather around Donald, they’re trying to support him, but the elder generation…
A lot of accusations are leveled at Scrooge, it’s his fault she’s an adventurer, his fault she’s a pilot, his fault she didn’t settle down. He should never have taken Donald and Della in.
Scrooge fights back. It’s not his fault. He did the best he could.
Donald still needs him.
Matilda may not have the family temper, but her words are all the sharper. “No one needs you. You’re not welcomed here.”
Scrooge looks to Donald, surrounded by his cousins.
They’re right. Donald doesn’t need him. Donald won’t even look at him.
Scrooge leaves. No one stops him.
Then there’s the question of what to do with Donald.
He’s barely an adult, he can’t be expected to look after three young Ducklings, can he?
Donald doesn’t react well to the suggestion that someone else will take the triplets. They’re his. Della trusted him.
Legal battle! And the start of another family feud.
Donald retreats to Grandma Duck’s farm, alongside the family members that support him (mostly his cousins at this point), and they fortify the farm.
Back and forth goes the feud and the legal battle, with Donald coming back to himself and working through his grief, and the cousins trying to help look after the triplets and getting into crazy hijinks.
Ending with the cousins accidentally kidnapping the judge for the custody case, the judge seeing first hand Donald not only being a great Dad but somehow also riding herd on his crazy cousins.
So Donald gets custody of HDL.

We told you. It is not easy for you to go straight fluff, but you have added an incredible mix of comedy and drama. Dramedy.
I can only imagine Fethry somehow managed to kidnap the judge. That is my primary concern right now. Who kidnapped the judge? Did Gladstone and Fethry suceed in kidnapping the judge? Abner’s on the side thinking, “What are y’all doing? Gotta knock him out without killing him.”
Matilda is a sharp tongued woman. You cannot tell me any different. She doesn’t have Hortense or Scrooge’s temper, but she has a tongue that will cut you deep.
I do think Scrooge leaving, taking himself out of the equation, pushes Donald’s view of him down the drain. It incriminates him. It validates all of the whisperings in Donald’s head that were fueled by his relatives. Of course, they’re reacting out of anger and grief, but still.

It hurts my heart to think about the family putting all the blame on Scrooge. He would have enough of it. He leaves.
And the big question is: Who will take care of Della’s sons? Della would have wanted it to be Donald.
But Donald is too young, too inexperienced(, too clumsy)! The family fights for the custody over HDL.
And Donald gets support from Fethry and Gladstone; he’s surprised that Gladstone stands up for him, believes in him?
Gladstone was very close to Della, and he knows that his cousin would have wanted that. He thinks his luck could help, too.
I chuckled at the thought of the cousins kidnapping the judge??? They are just like: “Look, your Honour. Just look.” The judge witnessing Donald being (a bit messy but) marvelous parent to his baby nephews.
They win the case. The Battle of Custody! will go down in their family history…
But hey. ANOTHER CRAZY IDEA. A CRAZY AU IDEA.
What about Donald isn’t allowed to take all the three of HDL? He’s only entitled to custody for one triplet: Huey. So Dewey and Louie are raised by other family members, Scrooge gets Dewey, Gladstone gets Louie?
The triplets grow up separately from each other, they don’t know they have siblings.
Huey lives on a houseboat with his uncle.
Dewey lives with his great uncle in a mansion, painting the town with Webby, his best friend.
Louie lives with his lucky uncle who runs a casino.
All the three of them are happy, but sometimes they got this feeling… That they are missing something. They don’t know exactly why. But sometimes, they feel… lonely.
And then, the crazy, incredible coincidence happens: Huey, Dewey and Louie run into each other somehow.
They are shocked.

Oh, there’s even more plotting afoot. *rubs hands* Awesome.
Dewey grew up without ever needing to feel different- adventures weren't something new, and he knows about the lost adventures of Scrooge McDuck, learning with Webby. I feel Dewey would research the family of mcduck and others since he's with webby... but cant find any other information of where Huey and Louie are- it hasn't been updated. His mother id a mystery he keeps to him alone.
Louie grew up rich and getting everything he wanted. Spoiled. A sort of bad boy who has a way too leniant parent figure.
Huey grew up alone, but with his books- he longs for adventure, to escape the scathing claws of Donald's protective aura... but he's afraid too. No big brother nature, but the knowledge of things potentially dangerous- he's naive, growing up on fairytales and yet the real life works of Don's tales... he's a dreamer, but also realistic.

Thank you for pointing this out. Scrooge wasn’t even in all the episodes of the original DuckTales. Nor was Launchpad, or Webby and the boys. And even in some episodes that Scrooge WAS in, he only had bit parts like appearing at the beginning and the end, and that was it. Like Frank mentions, the reboot is an ensemble show and focus shifts as it needs to.
Remember that while it’s got a big tophat to fill, it’s also crafting its own universe and wants to stand on its own. All I’m saying is, give it that chance to. The airing hasn’t been ideal, we all know this. If you ask me that’s even more reason to do so, because then once they’re all out you can watch them like it was intended.

Like, listen, I know non of the shippers here are ill intended, however, the developing team already said they aren’t going to have any romantic tension develop between her and the boys because they are basically family.
I am not going to tell you to stop shipping them with her but I do want you to keep that in mind.
Don't get me wrong, I'm ALL FOR them shippy moments my friends- I'm a large Huebby and Loubby shipper- but never in a million years will I suspect actual romance to occer within the series.

I wasn’t satisfied with my Inktober picture for today so I drew this.
Anyway, Webby is gonna find out about Lena sooner or later, and I keep envisioning Dad Friend coming to the rescue.
"L-...Lena...?"
Webby watched in horror as the pink banged girl turned to her with darkened eyes, no emotion present as she held her amulet. "I'm sorry, Webby... but family comes first. You've taught me that."
The wind picked up immensely as the amulet ripped itself from Lena's grasp, now circling in the middle of the emerging tornado of papers and other objects, narrowly avoiding hitting Webby and the triplets- whom were rightly enraged.
"Lena, don't do this! You have no idea what she's capable of-" Louie was cut off by Lena glaring darkly at him, fists clenched. "No, you have no idea what she's capable of! She's the only family I have left- the only one that cares about me! You should understand that!"
Louie braced himself from the oncoming storm if wind, pressing against Dewey who grabbed ahold of a stone lodged into the earth, struggling to keep steady, as Webby hid behind a nearby pillar. "Huey... I'm sorry. I should have seen this coming-... Huey?"
The aforementioned red capped duckling was looking downward, hands gripped as he leaned against the same pillar she hid behind, not seeming to be bothered by the wind. The red cap was pulled and he was faced downward. "...Huey...?"
