I chuckled pretty hard on how pointlessly stupid this statement is.
I’m Libertarian for a majority of my political leanings with very few exceptions, @guns-and-humor. You would know that by either asking me, or looking over my blog. But you didn’t. Instead, you assumed my position poorly & wrong. You didn’t even want to me to elaborate what I have to said, and blocked me while at the same time leaving a comment.
If that isn’t the tactics of a coward, I don’t know what is.
But you know what, I’m generous man, and I also know I can easily archive this conversation.
Government funded and Taxpayer funded are synonymous. There is no difference at all when saying one or the other. How could it? Government projects are created by parasites who’s only job is to dispense the tax money we have given them. This is civics 101.
Furthermore, it’s a bit weird to even thank the working class. Should I thank everyone, including myself, for breaking treaties, funding terrorist cells, and coups on legitimate governments? Because logically speaking, that is your line of reasoning.
Which is why I said this is a pointlessly stupid statement.
With that said, keep me blocked. A person who wholesale accepts the government, such as yourself, are unpatriotic and overall would be fine seeing all the freedom and liberties the constitution has given us go down the drain.
Oh and I won’t block you, as a Libertarian, I welcome opposing ideas to better challenge and improve myself.

Speaking as someone who thought there were so any fake tears behind that death…eh. I’m on the side of preferring that the Lions sacrificed themselves to support her as she really did give up so damn much to not even end up seeing her h9meworld ever again.
However that take about “Putting a statue of Allura is supporting racism” in that one other post is one helluva reach that even Elasti-Girl can’t pull off and that’s dumb. Just do what I’ve done and stop supporting and VLD merch and move on. Especially those who thought she was akin to Hitler for making crack’s about Lance’s weird ears.
Her death was bad writing because there were SO many options that they could have taken, but they really wanted their ‘shock-and-twist’ ending, so that’s why we are stuck with this.
It wasn’t a “shock-and-twist ending”, whatever the fuck that is, it was a bittersweet ending.
I genuinely don’t understand why people argue that Allura was just killed off for shock value, that makes absolutely no sense. It was thematically appropriate that Allura would sacrifice herself to not only restore the universe to how it was, but to also restore both Altea and Daibazaal, is both thematically appropriate and perfectly fitting for her character.
They didn’t just kill her off for the sake of going “oh look, we killed off one of the main characters, isn’t that shocking?” like so many other shows do. *glares at Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead*

Let me rephrase.
Please show me where having the main character of the show and arguably main face of not just the show but the franchise of a whole literally commit suicide to redeem a genocidal madwoman AND restore the realities she destroyed, all at the literal last minute of the show, was ever built up or foreshadowed, or was “thematically fitting” for the show’s tone and/or message.
Okay, first off, “the main face of not just the show but the franchise of a whole”.
Yeah, no, that’s this guy.
Secondly, heroic sacrifice is a very common trope in fiction. I love how you keep phrasing this as “she committed suicide”, very blatantly downplaying the importance of her sacrifice. When I said that it was fitting for her character, what I meant is that it makes sense that Princess Allura, a character who has been shown time and time again to be selfless, would be willing to sacrifice herself without a second thought to restore the universe.
And as for “thematically fitting”, consider that the entire plot of the series has focused on the conflict between Team Voltron and the Galra. Allura restoring both Altea and Daibazaal with her sacrifice fits perfectly with that.
But sure, go ahead and downplay her sacrifice as “she commits suicide to redeem a genocidal madwoman”. I’m surprised you can even consider yourself a fan of Allura with that attitude.
Okay, I think this entire thing can be summarized by one simple question.
“What was the point of Allura’s sacrifice?”
The problem with Allura’s sacrifice is more on the lines of a writing angle. Allura would sacrifice in that scenario, not the issue problem. The show made sure to establish that as part of her chracter, but when equal options are shown up from a writing and idea perspective, that’s when you know you didn’t get that sacrifice done correctly.
Sacrificing characters, especially main ones, usually has to be done in a way that the audience has to believe to be necessary. A good example of this is The T-800 from Terminator 2.
Based on the scripts own logic, the T-800 had to be destroyed based off of everything the movie laid out. It was the only existing thing that could push for judgement day, and destruction was the only option. It had weight, logic, and emotion. That’s how you do a proper sacrifice.
Allura’s sacrafice was just... poorly written out. When several people bring up, such as @championallura, that there were options, that’s bad writing. When you have options that seem plausible, that means you overall didn’t convince your audience to believe in the sacrifice.
I can honestly believe that just using the Lions would do the same job and have just as much, if not more emotional weight. I could also believe that Team Voltron with their Lions making the sacrifice as a whole. It doesn’t matter if those are ideas are worse or better than Allura’s sacrifice, the fact that I can believe that as a plausible alternative means there’s something wrong with the show’s own logic.
Let’s think about this for a few questions:
1. Did the character’s death leave any impact to the story that no other sacrifice could have done?
2. Did those changes overall improve or worsen the show? If so, why did it have that impact?
3. What other alternatives could been done in that situation?
Apply those questions to the T-800 and you will find very little wiggle room to question the sacrifice.
Apply these question’s to Allura and you have A LOT of things that can be discussed,(hence this discussions existence to begin with)
Which brings me back to my original question.
