do you have any tips on increasing art output or drawing faster? i draw sooooo slowly and it's hindering all the ideas i have for ocs and things

generally anon I think it’s best to consider the scaling of the work!

when I say “scaling” I mean prioritize which details you’d wanna focus on and whether or not it would be worth focusing on them. (My architecture prof explained this as “which parts are people going to see if they took a step back and looked at your drawing from 5m away?”)

For example, I can draw really detailed lace but will it be worth it if it were just a very small part of a whole full-body character? maybe not, but I might consider doing it for a portrait where it’s gonna be taking up a decent amount of the space :>

you’ll begin to notice a pattern in a lot of my quick-draw or non-commission stuff where color blocks are left as is, lines remain rough and details like filigree and lace are actually just squiggles when you look closer! the important thing for me while drawing them was to communicate the idea as a whole in the shortest amount of time possible!
