Making Claudia into a one dimensional lying angry black woman stereotype when she had a cold righteous rage that simmered through all of her injustice is just so disheartening. Her complex relationship with her parental figures was so nuanced where love, respect, disappointment, and resentment merged into a special highlight of the show. A strange rant where she's inexplicably racist and hateful to Louis over the man she compared to a literal tyrant slave owner feels so off. She has the right to be angry at them both but the implication that Louis was the worst person to her serves nothing other than the writer's agenda to discount the beauty of s1 and 2.

gabriella butchered and made into a cartoonish, two dimensional villain with no depth or complexity whatsoever. louis being humiliated time and time again, forced to apologise to his abusers and referred to as a dozen different racial slurs. armand acting out of character, carrying out plot points that actively contradict his s2 characterisation. daniel having no role whatsoever other than being insufferable and stupid and insulting at least one minority per episode. claudia revealed to be suffering in hell, used as a mouthpiece for the writers to spew their hatred for louis, her presence needed to bring louis and lestat together back again. the band members taking loads of screen times but having paper thin characterisation and being absolutely unforgettable. lestat himself, the titular character, reduced to a shallow version of himself, where he actually didn’t do anything but was forced to by someone else. his (beautiful, heartbreaking, so interesting!) backstory resolved in quick two minutes long scenes with no emotional depth.

not one character given the depth and exploration they needed. how can you fuck it up so badly? who is this season even for?

I’m not an Armand fan or stan. But I’m a black woman so when I see racist writing towards him and other non-white characters, I’m going to say something. This season stripped the humanity of every character that wasn’t Lestat and it is disgusting. They want to keep the words(not word for word in the show) Claudia says to Louis in the book but not the fact Armand NEVER tortured and killed Louis?

I feel like some of these fans only want “book accuracy” when it is going to be used in a racist way in this race bent show. It is giving we only want to showcase interracial romantic dynamics if there’s one white person in it. We RARELY get any BIPOC x BIPOC pairings especially queer ones but now this show decided to blame Armand for everything. It decided to showcase to non-white queer men hurt each other for no real reason, no complexity or nuance at all.

TVL sucks and I feel sorry for any Asian, especially South Asian, fans who have to watch this racist fandom demonize a brown man. I feel sorry for the Louarmand fandom who got this crappy writing, and I feel sorry for my fellow black people who are being tone police for how we feel about Louis and Claudia’s treatment.

Right? Why change the book canon to make Armand look bad (him being unattractive and unlovable is a show only thing)? Why take the "no one else wants us" loumand romantic moment and give to lous,tat? Why the only freaking biracial non white couple in the show is treated like they never really loved each other? Why make 7 episodes trying to make Lestat look like a poor good guy who is even approved by louis' brother who hated and distrusted him? Why make Louis apologise so freaking much to Lestat and genuinely so? Why even make Louis apologise to Armand after being tortured? Why have Armand's sole storyline this season being he wants to torture Louis? Why have danstat insult Armand like that and just get away with it? Why have marius shown if they never make him say racist shit and focus on rhe arian bloodline or how he did what he did to Armand? Why imply Akasha's blood made Lestat hurt Louis? Why make Claudia lie about what Lestat said to her? Why have her say these things to Louis? Why—
