I had a horrible run-in with my ex. He said very abusive things, and brought up the fact that I lost my virginity to him. I felt awful afterwards, and started talking to my friend Jon. I asked him, "Jon, why shouldn't I just kill myself?" I mean, why not? No one actively wants me around, I thought. No one cares. I'm just another mass of wasted energy. And my ex clearly wanted me to die, so that he would stop having to see me. And this is what he told me. He doesn't romantically love me. He didn't ask me to be his girlfriend. He didn't give me an "I love you" at the end. But these words were truly all I needed, because he didn't just say "I need you". He gave me a reason, a specific reason, why he wants me in his life. Something good I've done, which I needed to hear after what my ex said. Thank you, Jon...you're my savior.
