this zero notes on the threads is pissing me off. Also apologies in advance, I just know I'm gonna reblog from the wrong reblog and fuck the thread up.
Unlike most gods, who require permission to enter another god’s realm or domain, Eileithyia is one of the few who does not. She has free rein to go wherever and whenever she pleases, a privilege granted because her role requires her to move freely between realms.
However, she did not always have this luxury. Eons ago, a few hundred years into her role as a goddess, she still had to wait for permission before entering other realms, ssomething she always hated but accepted without complaint. Until one day, her worst fear came true. Thyia was forced to wait far too long, and as a result, there was a loss.
That very night, Thyia marched up to her parents and demanded that this be changed, that she be allowed to go wherever she was needed without waiting for another god to grant her entry. Her request was granted, and since then she has been free to travel wherever she must.
Even so it is not a privilege she abuses. She is far too kind of a goddess to ever do such a thing.
Matala - Greece (by Leonhard Niederwimmer)
❛ and what exactly is that supposed to mean?❜ given the goddess' fairly straightforward warning, it would probably be prudent to curb her tongue and instead focus on awkward small talk, or even better, silence, but the warning goes down poorly with khione's daughter. Eileithyia may be a goddess but she's on camp half-blood's turf and as a camper (albeit a reluctant and unhappy one), she should be allowed to say whatever she pleases.
❛ i don't think chiron would take very kindly to you smiting a camper.❜ she points out with an impertinent shrug of her shoulders, ❛ and also given that you're still helping me right now, i'm not sure i have anything to be afraid of. ❜
aurelia considers marching off simply for the sake of making a point, but instead she tentatively replies by settling her arm on the trolley as directed even as she warily eyes the goddess. ❛ again, you do realize we have apollo kids who take care of this stuff, right? ❜
surely goddesses have better things to do than tend to a minor demigod's minor cut. ❛ and i really don't even think it's too bad. i should have been more careful. ❜
Eileithyia doesn’t hold back her eye roll this time, though she can tell Aurelia still has plenty she wants to say. Thyia lets her speak while she gets to work on the girl’s arm. After pulling on a pair of gloves, she wets some gauze with sterile water and begins gently cleaning the cut.
When the demigod finally finishes speaking, Thyia responds coolly. “Clearly, you have not been taught the difference between a warning and a threat, and I highly advise that you educate yourself.”
She chooses to ignore the comment about Chiron not taking kindly to her smiting a camper, though the comment grates on her nerves. The remark is insulting to a point. She would never smite a child, no matter how tempting it might be at moments like this.
Thyia tosses the now, bloodied gauze into the bin beside the trolley and picks up a fresh piece, cleaning the cut again, this time a little more firmly than before.
“It is obvious that you know nothing about me. Because if you did, you would not be constantly bringing up my half-brother’s children.”
She pauses, lifting her gaze to meet Aurelia’s, with a hard look.
“I do not need to explain myself to you. But know this, I am here because I want to be, because I choose to be. That is all.” She glances back down at the cut. “You’re going to need stitches, by the way.”
Were this any other place, Hermes would have taken the expression personally. But in this he understood, a hand lifting only to fall, his comfort would not be welcome when he was effectively tearing her heart out with the other. Worse still not for the one, but both, his gaze shifting to the bed and the weary pride and joy that reclined there.
'Thylia...'
He's trying to be gentle, he's trying to be kind. His greeting her was a courtesy only, when he could have simply whisked them both away in the time it took her to being to blink before the eye fully closed. It needed doing, the lines of his face softening with sympathy for her hurt. But this was the cost, sometimes joy, sometimes an end. Mortals knew that and continued on, seemingly endlessly some days.
'Don't distress her, let her pass in peace.' He owed her strong drinks and soon. 'Come, sister dear. Tuck those tears away for later, they'll season the tequila shots when your shift ends.'
Eileithyia still does not know who Hermes has come to take and she dares not ask. Largely because she does not want to know, does not want to put a name or a face to the life she has failed. The very core of her existence, her sole purpose as a goddess, is life. To falter in that feels like an unforgivable fracture in her being.
So instead of stepping aside and allowing her half brother to carry out his duty, Thyia moves closer to him. It is instinct more than thought an unconscious attempt to shield the mortal mother and her infant daughter from what waits at the threshold. She knows she cannot truly stand against death.
But she steps forward anyway.
Out of the blue, Hermes makes a light-hearted drinking joke. She knows it is meant to ease the tension, to soften the weight of the moment pressing in on them. Under any other circumstance, she might even have managed a faint smile.
But not now. Instead, it makes her blood boil.
The levity feels wrong, cruel, even against the fragile breathing of the mother and child behind her, who had no idea this conversation now turned arguement, was even happening.
“Hermes!” She snaps, her voice sharp with barely restrained fury, “I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, leave. Go find another soul to take, one that actually deserves to die. Leave this innocent mother and babe alone!”
No because what do you mean I’m 28 today!

Eileithyia’s week had gone from bad to worse, it felt as though it would never end. The final insult came when she was informed that she had to attend a party, her presence mandatory for no reason other than the fact that she was one of the legitimates.
Under usual circumstances, she would have begrudgingly made an appearance but not tonight. Tonight, she refuses. Instead, she chooses to protest in the only way she can, by disappearing.
She hides herself away from everyone and everything in one of the many gardens of Olympus, seeking solitude among the quiet paths and whispering leaves. There, at last, Thyia can catch her breath and begin to process what had happened today and in the days before it.
An hour or two passes before she hears footsteps approaching. The sound doesn’t surprise her, someone was bound to come looking eventually but she is startled when she turns and finds her father standing there.
Rising from the bench, she faces him, tension settling into her shoulders, arms crossed tightly. Unfortunately for Zeus, she had not spent the past hour calming herself. Instead of catching her breath, her emotions had festered, twisting tighter and tighter until they threatened to spill over.
Eileithyia lashes out at him, words tumbling over one another as the dam finally breaks. She tells him how miserable her week has been, how she argued with Hermes and Thanatos, how she feels she has been given the wrong title and forced into the wrong domain, how none of it feels like her, no matter how often she is told otherwise.
Her voice shakes, but she doesn’t stop.
“I bet no one even noticed I’ve gone.” Thyia cries. “I’m not an idiot, I know no one cares about me being there… or anywhere, really!”
The words hang heavy between them.
“I care about you.”
That stops her mid-tangent. The simple admission brings her spiralling emotions to an abrupt halt, as though the air has been stolen from her lungs. She stands there, stunned and speechless, staring at him as if she has misheard. Of all the things she expected to leave her father’s mouth, that was not one of them. And yet, she knows he is not lying. Somehow, that almost makes it worse.
“I’m not going to the party. You can’t make me.”
The words come out more stubborn than steady, her chin lifting in defiance. Her mind scrambles for something, anything, to focus on other than the sting of her outburst, anything but the apology threatening to rise in her throat.

“ close your eyes, you don’t need to see this. ” ( from hera )

The godling had no idea what was going on or why. If anything, it confused and frightened her a little. The only thing the young princess knew was that she had somehow found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
At the sound of her mother’s voice, Thyia jumped in surprise, as she had not expected to see her in the room. While Eileithyia was tempted to ask Hera what was going on, something told her she wouldn’t like the answers, they would likely leave her even more confused and frightened than she already was.
So she did as she was told, quickly closing her eyes and even lowering her head for good measure to avoid the chance of seeing anything else.
“I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to come in here.” Eileithyia apologised quickly, hoping to avoid getting into trouble.

Eating/Food:
For eons now, Eileithyia has had a complicated relationship with food and eating. She actually loves food, loves to eat but she neglects to do so, often ignoring her own needs to help others, especially during emergencies.
She pushes it to the back burner, and as a result, has a tendency to go days, sometimes even up to a week or longer without eating. It doesn't help she chooses to work long hours, up to sometimes 24hr shifts at a time.
This tends to happen especially during the busiest birthing months of the year, such as September and November. While she has gotten slightly better at remembering to have at least one meal a day, time still slips away from her, and she forgets again.
If Thyia were mortal, she would likely be diagnosed with some form of eating disorder and may have been hospitalised at least once because of it.

“ don’t worry. everything’s going to be alright… ” ( from hebe on @okatokosmos <3 )

“I don’t believe you,” Thyia confessed, staring at her baby sister with a sceptical look on her face.
“Because the last time you said that, we made cocktails out of Dio’s secret stash, and I was hungover for two days!” she exclaimed, crossing her arms.
“So whatever stupid idea you’re planning, count me out.”

"oh, there you are, darling!" hera's smile was warm, soft, and reserved only for her daughter. "you've worked hard enough - let me take you to lunch. surely you can spare an hour away from here for your mother - and your well-being?"
“Mama!!” Thyia jumped in surprise, quickly closing the lid of her laptop before glancing at the clock, surely it wasn’t 1pm already… No, it was indeed 1pm.
The day was going far too fast, and she hated every second of it. There never seemed to be enough hours.
The younger goddess glanced back at Hera. “Yes,, I can do lunch,” She agreed, knowing better than to argue with her mother. “But I have to ask, did Aunt Hes text you?” She assked curiously, since Hestia had shown up hours earlier and practically force-fed her baklava.
