The morning routine of a woman who has it all together

She wakes up before the sun does. A glass of lemon water to wake up the body. Making her bed and doing her morning hygiene routine. She takes time to pray and journal her goals for today and thoughts of gratitude.

The sun begins to peak out, so she knows it's now time for a bit of joyful movement, whatever that may be for you. For me, it's 30 minutes of yoga followed by 5-10 minutes of mediation.

Time to clean yourself up and start your day. A cold shower to relax the muscles. Make sure you apply lotion as soon as you exit the shower! It's the key to soft skin. A bit of perfume on your pulse points, even if you're not leaving the house. I just love smelling good no matter what!

Since we are now entering the cooler months, my favorite go-to healthy breakfast is oatmeal topped with fresh berries and a bit of organic brown coconut sugar. On other days, I'll do a greek yogurt parfait with granola and fresh strawberries. Don't forget to take your vitamins as well!

Then I make myself a cup of tea, and head into my home office to start my work day.

Soldier Vanessa Guillen Disappeared From Fort Hood Army Base in April. Here’s What You Need To Know About the Case

Vanessa Guillen, a 20-year-old U.S. soldier, last seen on April 22 in a parking lot on the Fort Hood Army Base in central Texas.

Her car keys, barracks room key, identification card and wallet were later found in the armory room where she had been working earlier in the day. Her phone has yes to be found

Three weeks before her disappearance, Vanessa Guillen told her mother that she was being sexually harassed and followed by an Army sergeant, but was afraid to report him, according to the Guillen family who made a website to coordinate their search. Guillen did not disclose the name of the alleged perpetrator to her mother.

Remains were found a few feet from a pile of a burn mound that was searched June 20. Concrete had been poured over the remains, and subsequent rainstorms allowed the grave to settle into natural-looking terrain. 

Identity of the remains have not been confirmed.

2 suspects were in custody one of the suspects died by suicide Wednesday morning when confronted by investigators in Killeen.

Texas Rangers have arrested the estranged wife of a former Fort Hood soldier in connection with the disappearance 

3 other remains were found at that army base including Gregory Morales, Brandon Rosecrans &  Zach Partin

 Krysta Martinez, a former Fort Hood soldier who started the “Where is Vanessa” hashtag and who also filed complaints of sexual harassment at the base died in a Car Accident

Interesting none of you bother recommending other resources to spread awareness of what it’s like to be a Black Woman while you are pulling attention away from the main point–Black Women need to be recognized. If you have such a problem with how accurate the speech is, just know I looked into it and apparently she approved the second version which also expresses how she’s feeling. do you guys realize that…the videos and articles about the “good cops” who are “protesting” are propaganda designed to make you think “not all cops are bad”? do you realize that when the chief of police of flint said “let’s not make this a protest, let’s make it a parade,” he was successfully de-escalating the situation and dissolving the protest?

the police force has been corrupt since long before you and i were born. people don’t become cops to protect and serve, they become cops to feel strong and to use their strength against others. you are falling for propaganda if you believe that white men kneeling a la colin kaepernick mean the cops you see firing rubber bullets and batoning people are the exception to the rule.

Here’s the thing to remember about anti-racist book lists:

Read these, yes. But then read books that were not written as treatises on racism. Seek out Black art not only because it can teach you something about race but because Black people are simply doing extraordinary work.

Read Morrison as much for her prose and her mastery of pacing as for her politics. Read Ross Gay’s Book of Delights, an ode to little wonders and a reminder to look at the world with gratitude. Read Elizabeth Alexander’s stunning testament to grief and marriage, The Light of the World, and note the innovations in form as she mixes memoir with poetry and recipes, a collage meant to mirror her late husband’s paintings. Read NK Jemisin’s The Fifth Season and marvel at the worlds she builds.

Just a small reminder. Black art does not exist solely to educate non-Black people. Always be expanding your horizons.
