My Little AL1 Review Pt 1: Title Track
Hey guys! I was so hyped when Al1 dropped a few nights ago. It was 2 in the morning, and I was delirious so I figured, “Hey, instead of actually being productive and doing my work, why not just listen through the album and watch the mv and write up a little review? so now I’m here. hello people!

*I don’t know music theory, I comment on things that fascinate me
FIRST LISTEN TO 울고 싶지 않아 (Don’t Wanna Cry) :
So when I first listen to music in music videos, I get distracted by everything and I’m not paying attention to much, so the first thing that stuck out to me was -
1) omg Seungcheol singing??!?!!
I got emotional when he started singing, I hadn’t heard his voice in a long time. I hadn’t heard seventeen in general in a long time. His voice took me by surprise and I wanted to scream, which I couldn’t because the window was open and it was like 2 am lmao. But i was so mesmerized to hear his voice again. He really does have a beautiful voice and I’m glad he got to have a bit of a longer solo in this title track.
2) The second thing I came to notice was that the song had an overall “Chainsmokers” feel. The hook resembles the hook in “Closer” except the beats rearranged. I still loved the use of the samples nonetheless because it really worked with the song. Sometimes, songs sound like other songs. Songs never truly have their own original sound. And once you accept that, that’s when you can enjoy music more for what it is.
3) The third thing I also noticed was also Seungcheol-related yet again lol. He emerges through the group to sing a high note. I didn’t know whether that was actually him singing it, but it sounded like his voice. It felt too good to be true. He never sang a high note in a seventeen song before so I was just too shocked. And then he proceeded to dance with the rest of the group and I thought it looked pretty cool how he can just easily fall into place with the members like that. It felt like watching colors blending together or gears snapping into place and becoming one unit. It was really cool to watch

SECOND LISTEN TO 울고 싶지 않아 (Don’t Wanna Cry) :
1) Vernon’s breathy singing voice! I didn’t even realize he was singing in the beginning! I like how he starts the verse low and soft, his breathy voice making it sound really ethereal.
2) Then Hoshi’s voice just pulls you in
3) Then Woozi’s voice emerges with his harmonies,
4) And Seokmin rises as the music picks up. (it’s funny cus he falls literally lol)
I think it really pulls the song together and builds it.
5) The chorus is pretty tight. What a bop. I also love their uses of space.
6) I started crying about Seungcheol again in the second version. Sh leave me alone. But 95 line and their gentle voices, so good.
^^while making this gif, I realized, it’s kind of a nod to adore u. They’ve grown since then. (I go more into their growth later.)
7) But yeah, I’m a big fan of their use of space. They go all-in in the chorus and in the bridge and drop a little bit and then build up and then the SPACE I held my breath.
8) Harmonies intensify , adlibs everywhere, so much, so perfectly overwhelming
9) The lack of raps was also pretty cool. It’s nice to actually just hear them singing.
10) choreo! holy shi.. man, they are really improving with that choreography. it’s dope af. It’s one of those choreographies that emphasizes the beats in the song and its so intricate and i love the robotic movements there and theyre all in sync and just wow the skill has accumulated and gone way beyond. Compare this choreo to adore u. THE DIFFERENCE IS HUGE!
Because I realized this is really long, I decided to split my review into 2 parts!
Part 2 will be the rest of the mini album, and I have a loooot to say about it :D
*whispers* I doubt anyone will read this, but I’ve never truly expressed my own opinions before. I’ve always been scared to. It’s a weird thing about me. But it’s okay! I’m glad I’m starting to do it now c:
