Gemini’s Bio
〈 CHARACTER INFO 〉 CHARACTER NAME: Gemini de Mille CHARACTER AGE: 28 SERIES: DC Comics CHRONOLOGY: Post Infinite Crisis
BACKGROUND: Gemini comes from the crime ridden world of DC Comics and is a member of the Brotherhood of Evil, a shadowy organisation dedicated to achieving power through criminal ends. Gemini is the group’s infiltrator/assassin/spy a career at which she excels. Gemini’s mother, Madame Rouge, was a founder member of the Brotherhood of Evil but suffered from schizophrenia. During one of her lucid spells she escaped the Brotherhood and conceived Gemini with an unknown father, leaving her young daughter in safety and returning only when her good side was dominant. Consequently Gemini lived a happy childhood, a state that ended when her mother perished while trying to conquer the small island nation of Zandia. After this, Gemini swore revenge on the hero responsible, Beast Boy, and followed her mother’s footsteps into the Brotherhood of Evil, slowly mastering her newly manifested powers and preparing to exact her revenge. Unfortunately even after years of preparation that didn’t go according to plan, and although she managed to successfully frame Beast Boy for a number of crimes her scheme was finished when Beast Boy managed to overcome her in combat. After this Gemini turned up again with the senior members of the Brotherhood in Bludhaven, ambushing Batgirl to try and rid her from the city. Her first attempt succeeded but when Batgirl returned she was once again beaten. The Brotherhood next attempted to create a cloned body for their disembodied leader the Brain, with Gemini stealing vital components for the process from highly secured facilities. However the Teen Titans managed to defeat the Brotherhood, with Gemini twice being overpowered by Wonder Girl. Following the Brotherhood’s defeat at the hands of the Titans Gemini and the Brotherhood were next seen during the events of Infinite Crisis, where Gemini assisted in dropping the chemical monstrosity Chemo on the city of Bludhaven, resulting in the deaths of most of the population and contaminating the city with radioactive waste. PERSONALITY: Have you ever been given the news that your mother, the only family you’ve ever known, has been murdered? Did your body then react to the trauma by melting into a shapeless puddle of goo? This was exactly what happened to Gemini and it took her years to recover fully from it and in some ways she never has. What was once a bright, friendly girl has been twisted out of all recognition into a dark embittered person who is not technically even a woman anymore. She is incapable of feeling physical pleasure and this added to her anger and bitterness has turned her towards sadism, inflicting cruelty on others to ease her own pain.
Gemini thinks nothing of killing those that get in her way, and believes that she has the right to take whatever she wishes. Being a shapeshifter brings a particular degree of mistrust even among villains, and she’s quite happy to take advantage of this, making alliances and breaking them if it benefits her. It amuses her to use her looks to manipulate and deceive, taking advantage of the natural human trait to accept the face they see as the real deal. Often Gemini will create a false persona to interact with others, so as to size them up, lull them into a false sense of security, or to simply entertain herself. Partly due to her powers Gemini is immensely arrogant and can be quite overconfident, resulting in her dismissing foes as not a threat to her, only to discover otherwise. She believes in taking what’s hers without asking, which usually results in her stealing art, cars, even luxury apartments if the fancy takes her. There are few crimes that she won’t commit and she’ll do so with a callousness that is shocking.
Gemini is deeply loyal to her few friends, all of whom are criminals, and while she doesn’t make friends easily or quickly, once someone as earned her trust they’ll have it for life unless they betray her. Heroes of any and all types are automatically targets for her hatred, so if you’re wearing a mask or a cape, expect that she won’t hold back. POWER: Gemini’s body is made up of a blue rubber like substance that gives her a number of abilities. Her true form is that of a shapeless puddle of goo, but her preferred form is that of an attractive young woman in her early twenties. Stretching- The trait that she inherited from her mother, Gemini is capable of stretching her body over at least a hundred metres, often using this ability to attack enemies from a distance, or to bind them up in a coiled limb. Stretching allows her to move at considerable speed, squeeze through the tiniest of openings and add to the power of her punches, making her formidable in a fight. Shapeshifting- Again, Gemini’s mother was capable of limited shapeshifting, but while Madame Rouge could only sculpt her face, Gemini can sculpt her entire body to become virtually anything she wants. Commonly she’ll use this to become various animals or other people, mimicking them seamlessly, but she may become inanimate objects if she wishes and even with great concentration split her form, although she seldom uses this aspect of her powers. She can seemingly adjust her mass, going from large behemoths to small creatures, and has the capacity to morph weapons such as swords and hammers from her own body. Amorphous physiology-Having a body made out of rubber is very useful when it comes to getting injured as most bullets simply bounce off her, blades won’t pierce and a punch simply doesn’t faze her. The sharpest weapons that can cut through or pierce anything can damage her, but she has no pain receptors so cut off her arm and she’ll simply grow it back and reabsorb the old one. Because her body is not human, she does not tire and has no need to eat or breathe, and cannot be affected by poisons and pathogens. Gemini is several times stronger than a normal human due to her extreme elasticity and ability to increase her mass, whilst her senses work differently to a human’s, particularly sight, as she can telescope her vision and even see with any part of her body if she so wishes. Weaknesses- Gemini’s main weakness is temperature, she is made of rubber and if the temperature rises too high (think thermal grenade or a blowtorch) she’ll melt into a helpless puddle. Similarly, if it falls to low she’ll start to seize up until she freezes solid, all the time remaining fully conscious. Fire has a severe effect on her malleable cells, and is one of the few things capable of causing her pain, hitting her with a flamethrower is one of the most sure ways to incapacitate her. Lastly while she can look and sound like anyone she can’t copy powers or knowledge and so can be caught out this way, or by those with advanced senses who might pick up on her rubbery scent or lack of a heartbeat.
