curious as to your take on this: which do you think gets to coyle more: blatant disrespect and vitrol or a pure dismissive (ala a "yeah, whatever") response?

[ ooc: Dismissal definitely. At the end of the day attention is attention, no matter how negative it is. Sure, blatant disrespect riles him up easily and he doesn't like it at all, but at the same time he knows he's got the attention on him. He thinks himself of great importance, and by giving him attention you fuel his ego and affirm his authority. To have no opinion or regard for him leaves him powerless, because he has nothing over you. And I do believe he is one control-craving freak. ]

Before I go to bed I will say I am like 90% convinced this new trial victim is going to be an example of “what happens to reagents who become too infatuated with or fall in love with a Prime Asset”, I mean its my personal theory rn but I don’t think that concept/dynamic has been covered before in-game and of COURSE it would make sense with the Prime Asset who’s lusted after the most outside of the game itself

This is mainly going off on the sheer amount of fan-service Red Barrels will make for Coyle fans but also what was said in the trailer itself, the constant talk about love and ESPECIALLY “something that craves punishment as much as a reward” or whatever. Are we getting a trial victim who’s a former reagent that fell in love with Coyle.

Coyle is also the one to mention how you “shower someone with love” before letting them go until they eventually “come crawling back”. If the trial victim is actually in love with Coyle, did he reciprocate that love at some point. Idk I’m under the belief that YES fandom behavior will actually affect certain aspects of lore in The Outlast Trials so it would make sense that the sheer amount of Coyle fans could result in there now being a trial victim who’s actually in love with him too.

We already know that Coyle is very possessive when it comes to his trial victims but idk I’ve never seen him be gentle with one. He will still torture and abuse his trial victims relentlessly but in the trailer he’s like. A bit commanding but also openly loving towards the new trial victim??? This is gonna sound crazy but, the clip where he’s getting well. Guess whats behind the mannequins. He almost looks like he goes to PET the trial victim’s head for a moment. Not to mention him gently lifting up their head with the prod and NOT shocking them. The way he turns back to look AGAIN even after he just ushered the trial victim to follow him.

Ofc I could be completely wrong and the trial victim may be forced to be a dog for Coyle (or possibly even groomed into it by him idk I wouldn’t be surprised considering how diabolical Coyle is, also he could have actually “loved” them until they began to “behave” for him) but I think having a trial victim who actually LOVES the Prime Asset they’re stuck with (and not just begging for their help because they’re scared of dying) would be very interesting and likely the first time something like that would explicitly happen in game.

“The trial victim is a former reagent who fell desperately in love with Coyle and instead of becoming a sleeper agent through the therapy, their behavior changed where they slowly became a dog for Coyle, and Easterman wanted NONE of that so the trial victim is now being used to make an example of what happens when reagents fall in love or become too infatuated with Prime Assets”
