~Them moustaches be sweeter than those baked goods ~
Still Per Second Review: The Grand Budapest Hotel
Looks like Wes Anderson had a quick cup of tea with Quentin Tarantino before making this film. Carrying a bit of a punch but still quirky and elegant, The Grand Budapest Hotel will serve all your hearts delights.
Kim: SOAIRSE RONAN, OH BABY BABY
Kim: Making them cakes
Anna: That’s the only reason why you went to the film, right?
Kim: Of course, but in all honesty i do enjoy Wes Anderson
Anna: Of course! Them visuals, that nostalgia and that ensemble involves everyone you have ever laid eyes on including your grandma, makes for great fun.
Kim: You have all your Wes Anderson troupes colours, wacky characters, and a world you wish you can stay in forever.
Kim: I really enjoyed how the large cast didn’t try to “outdo” each other, everyone meshed well.
Anna: Yet this film was his first where I was like ‘DANG THAT BLOOD’, it was definitely more violent than his past films- but it a good way.
Kim: I agree, it was never excessive. It’s specific decisions that make him standout as a director ie. using maquettes for master shots.
Anna: They were a nice touch & felt fresh amongst all this 3D CG cinema that has been coming out. You know what else looked fresh? Them desserts. Mmm mmm mmm
Kim: Ya. I was just gonna say I would describe the Grand Budapest Hotel as the Mendl’s desserts: a quick and enjoyable dessert that is pretty to look at as well.
Final Thoughts:
- if you want to just get lost in a movie, this is the one
- colourful, quirky, smart, and nostalgic, something for everyone
- now would you please excuse us, we haven’t mastered the art of thinly drawn moustaches
