Very important health PSA for UK beach goers Link and app at bottom of post, please share this post/link and app!! The weathers getting nicer for me and all my other UK folk, which means it's prime time for going to the beach! Exept total privatisation of ALL water companies (thank you Thatcher I hope you rot painfully forever) means olympic swimming pools worth of raw sewage has been being pumped into the ocean along every single coastline for DECADES. There's flats near me that have literally JUST been found to have the waste plumbing connected directly to the ocean by "complete accident".

Swimming in the oceans of literal shit WILL give you a very high chance of contracting pathogenic E.coli. This WILL make you very sick and CAN kill you. Swimming it the polluted waters has killed people before, especially children and people who are immunocompromised

I highly suggest watching the Dirty Business series, it touches on this topic more than I can in this post.

PLEASE check pollution levels before you hit the beach, the Surfers Against Sewage foundation have websites and apps you can use. We need to start looking out for ourselves AND eachother so much more, so please share this with whoever and where ever!

Dreamt that a man knocked on my door and asked to come in. He had a big wound on his arm and the fat inside was visible, dried out crumbling everywhere. He was filthy. I let him in, and I noticed his hands were disgusting and I tried to get him to wash them and he said “I’m beyond that now.”

I put a squirt of that orange antibacterial soap in his hands and he looked disgusted and then wiped it on my shirt. Sorry I thought you were still alive, dickhead. His arm crumbs were getting EVERYWHERE.

A lot of people still don’t understand me when I say that reversing desertification is a good thing. They think I hate deserts

Let me put it this way. I really like the ocean. However I don’t think it’s a good thing for the ocean to flood inland destroying ecosystems and villages because some of the natural hills that kept it at bay have been mined away. Me building a dam to keep the ocean away to bring back some of the natural barrier that was lost isn’t me trying to destroy the ocean. It’s me keeping the ocean out of my goddamned ecosystem where it isn’t meant to be anyways.

People planting new trees and grasslands on the edge of the Sahara desert aren’t trying to get rid of the entire desert. They’re replacing the natural root systems that kept the soil from blowing away that have been eaten away by overgrazing. They’re replacing the natural barrier that keeps the desert in its goddamned place.

Just got this warning from the SSRS app (DOWNLOAD IT ESPECIALLY NOW WHEN PEOPLE ARE STARTING TO GO TO THE BEACH) umm that is the ENTIRE COASTLINE OF MY TOWN pumped full of raw sewage. All three main beaches due to a "storm" (there hasn't been a drop of rain in like a month, there's actually a DROUGHT HAPPENING AT THE MOMENT, and this is the same water company that somehow didn't realised they'd hooked a bunch of houses sewage pipes directly to the ocean). I know I keep going on about this but please be careful, it isn't just "a bit yucky" you can get SERIOUSLY ill from swimming in it. Get the SSRS app and keep yourselves and others safe, get the app and share it with others, I also recommend watching Dirty Business from Channel 4 to get the full picture. This is ALL down to the mass privatisation of water companies, thank you Thatcher!
