Let’s talk about a slightly dangerous topic today.
Before I start, I want to make one thing clear: I’m not a fan of extreme positions. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion, and I’m not interested in the whole “if you’re not with me, you’re against me” approach. Sorry if that sounds a little harsh.
I’m going to share my very humble opinion, and hopefully it won’t scare away half the people reading this.
I see AI as a tool. Like any other tool, it is supposed to help people and make certain things easier. When someone uses it so heavily that it replaces their own creativity, I think the responsibility lies with the person using the tool, not with the tool itself.
Personally, I’m completely fine with using AI for research. Finding information with AI can be much faster than sitting in a search engine and opening 150 tabs yourself. Search engines also use AI in one form or another, so anyone who is completely against all AI would probably have to limit themselves to physical libraries.
I’m also fine with using AI to check grammar and sentence structure. To me, that is basically a more advanced red pen. It knows the rules and checks your text against them.
What I am against is publishing a story written for you by AI and putting your own name on it.
That is misleading the reader.
So I suppose I’m not really against AI. I’m against dishonesty.
Here is another example: I cannot draw. At all. I can barely draw a proper circle. So yes, I sometimes use AI to make graphics, create banners, or see what a character I imagined might look like. Sometimes I also use it to visualize a character I enjoyed in someone else’s story.
And you know what is funny?
AI still cannot replace a human artist.
No matter how carefully you set it up, it tends to fall back on the same patterns. Generate five or ten characters in a row, and sooner or later you will notice the same face, the same expressions, the same little habits. Eventually, it stops being interesting.
For me, AI can help with research, grammar checks, outlines, or visualizing an idea. But it should support human creativity, not quietly replace it.
That is where my own line is.
