Dialogue Prompts
Right Person Wrong Time
Back from a brief hiatus with some more angsty dialogue prompts :D
“You were supposed to wait for me. I would’ve waited for you.”
“Be realistic.”
“Maybe it’s just meant to be this way.”
“Do you think we’ll regret this one day?”
“Just don’t forget me.”
“I already miss you.”
“I really am always late, huh?”
“Please, if anyone can make this work it’s us!”
“I’d honestly rather not have met you at all.”
“I hate that I’ll always love you.”
When you want to write the next chapter but writer's block hit you like a brick
"Every writer I know feels this way about someone else. Writing is such a solitary activity. You have no assurance that what you're creating has any value. Keep your eyes on your own paper, they say. But that's hard to do when everyone else's papers are flapping constantly in your face."
-Yellowface by R.F. Kuang
It's not writers block is
I HAVE THIS GREAT IDEA BUT HOW DO I MAKE IT MAKE SENSE WITHOUT HAVING TO DECONSTRUCT THE ENTIRE PLOT BUT AT THE SAME TIME MAKE IT BELIEVABLE BUT STILL PRETTY AND SOMEHOW COHERENT AND POLITICALLY CORRECT BUT OH WAIT I SHOULD WRITE FOR ME AND ONLY ME YET I DO WANT RECOGNITION AND BE FAMOUS AND I WANT SOMEONE LIKE PEDRO PASCAL PLAYING THE MALE LEAD IN THE MOVIE VERSION BUT ONLY IF IT'S A CATCHING FIRE MEETS RED WHITE AND ROYAL BLUE TYPE OF ADAPTATION AND I SHOULD GIVE IT A TITLE OR MAYBE DESIGN A COVER DRAFT ON CANVA OH WAIT-
and it's a real problem, y'all😭
Sometimes I’m like: ohhh I have no clue what story to tell and I’ll never have any ideas again
Also me: *writes down 20 ideas some random night when I’m definitely supposed to be long asleep*
(And then proceeds to post it on tumblr instead of finally getting some rest)
Tip I Wish I'd Known Before I Started Writing My WIP
Act structures work. I started writing Byoldervine after I'd done a bunch of fantacising about the kind of story I wanted, but I never actually structured it out. I still stand by my plotting scheme of plotting out five chapters in advance so I have the space and time to work through things and make adjustments as I go, but because I didn't create an overarching structure to the story I've got a bit of a pacing problem where I'm now cramming everything into the end when it could've been paying off much sooner
Luckily this is a problem that can be handled in the editing phase easily enough, and I've structured the last parts of the story so I know what's still left to go, but it still would've been helpful to have set it out in advance; it would also make the plotting sessions easier too
