It was almost Christmas and Davina was feeling anything but in the mood. With her sister still in Paris and now married suddenly, she was just not in a festive mental state. Of course, she didn’t let that keep her down. She wanted that date with Elijah, and by golly, if she had to make herself the jolliest asshole this side of the nuthouse, she was going to do it.
She threw on a red dress with green hem around it, and finished getting ready. As she did so, she was humming Christmas carols to herself. She wasn’t going to let anything ruin this night. Not her feelings about her sister, or worrying about Amanda while she was with Miles. Davina was just going to allow herself to think about her for once, and Eli.
When she was finally done, she ran down the hallway, stopping as soon as she got to the stairs. She wasn’t going to allow herself to appear too eager, even if she was screaming on the inside. She smiled when she saw Eli already down there. She could feel her cheeks beginning to betray her already, but she didn’t care. “Are you ready to get your caroling on?”
Elijah was usually cool, calm and collected-- at least, he was good at appearing so, but after arranging for his date with Davina, he was suddenly very nervous. He tried to go about his day as normal, but the ticking clock was taunting him, a constant reminder of what was to come. Fortunately, he was able to get off early-- he never missed a day, and it was rare that he took vacations or days off, so his boss had no problem giving him the rest of the day off. He headed to his quarters to wash the day off, wanting to look presentable-- not fancy or anything, but nice. It was his first date in a really long while, after all.
Once he was dressed and clean shaven, he made his way to the great hall to wait for Davina to show up, nervously pacing as he took in deep breaths, reminding himself that it was just a date. When he saw her, though, he cleared his throat, quickly smiling up at her as she descended the stairs. “--Absolutely. Let’s get out of here.”
