JAKE: Hey man did you manage to make it out of bed today?
ELI: Barely. I think I sort of melted onto the floor until I found it in me to have my legs move. How about you?

Elijah seemed friendlier than most of the football players at McKinley. Most of them were the popular kids who cruelly threw slushies in her face when she was least expecting it. Yet Elijah seemed different somehow - sweeter, and more innocent. Even if he was thinking of turning down the opportunity to join Glee Club, which as far as she was concerned, was a big mistake.
“Things are always tense at the beginning of the year, and there has been an awful lot of change around here.” Rachel shrugged her shoulders. “Change always creates friction, but I firmly believe that with the right team members, we can turn that friction into passion to succeed. Whilst it might seem like we’re always fighting, deep down we do really love each other. Even if sometimes that love is really deep down.”
Eli listened to her pitch with a growing amusement lighting his blue eyes up. She spoke like his father with the tone of his mother blended in and, really, it was strange listening to it come out of someone his own age. Is that what he would’ve sounded like if it wasn’t for his friends and a whole lot of Boston thrown into his voice and the things he said? Probably. Still. It was as endearing as it was old-fashioned. But he could see why other people would find it hard to keep up and, thus, put her in the context he’d heard others talk about her in.
He couldn’t stop himself from chuckling lightly when she explained to him the breakdown of everyone’s..er..breakdowns. After, he thumbed over his shoulder towards the parking lot. “I get what you’re saying but here’s the deal, Rachel. I’m thirsty and the Mini Mart is right that way. Walk with me and give yourself a second to relax? I appreciate the pitch and the explanation of why everyone’s so awful to one another but I’m really only seeing that love between a few people towards even fewer. You sure I’m just not going to make more enemies by signing up?” With that, he nodded towards the gate and waved for her to follow.

Where: Scandals
Who: Chandler Kiehl & @elijahclearfield
When: Saturday 1st September 2018 at 08:00PM
Warnings: Underage drinking and mild intoxication
Chandler had never been the type of teen to purposely break the rules, but so far 2018 had been pretty cruel to him and he had just about reached his limit of keeping his chin up and continuing to hope for the best. So during one lunch in school, he decided to go up to a group of seniors, offering them $20 if they could get him a believable fake ID and amazingly, they pulled through for him. He had his faux ID by Friday and today he was going out to test it. His father was out with his step-mother for their annual date night, so Chandler took the night alone as an opportunity to go out to Scandals; why Scandals you ask? It was the closest bar to his home, so at least if he got wasted, he wouldn’t have far to travel.
He arrived at 7pm and for the past hour he had been staring at the shot he ordered, trying to convince himself to just drink it, he looked around and contemplated on just going home, but it was seeing a familiar face that caused him to quickly spin back around in his seat and down his shot; making a face as he took a deep breath and coughed slightly. “Sweet baby Jesus, I’m in trouble…”
Eli stuffed Dax’s old ID into his back pocket and left the house. The picture was clearly his brother and vaguely resembled him at best. But he was young, good looking and it was dark. Much less a weekend and the place was desperate to pack as many people it could into it. He strode past the bouncer at the door and walked in not really looking around much until he located where the bar was. Unlike many of the grown men who seemed to love it here, the smell of sweat, booze and cheap varnish wasn’t really his thing. The faster they could get out of here? The better.
Spotting who he came here to find and recognizing him from glee auditions, Eli’s brow jerked up at the momentary look of recognition on Chandler’s face before he abruptly turned and seemed to want to hide where he was. “Yeah. Okay. Not the police,” he mumbled to himself while politely nodding to a guy who’d stood beside him and was giving him a big grin. His hands balled into fists and he pushed them in his pockets as he bellied up to the bar beside his classmate. “You’re a messy drunk. Should probably get you home.”
TEXT 📲 SMYTHEFIELD
SEBASTIAN: I'm not interested.
ELI: Cool. Later then.
TEXT 📲 SMYTHEFIELD
SEBASTIAN: I thrive off of an audience.
SEBASTIAN: It's where my best work is usually done.
ELI: If that's how you see it.
ELI: Honestly, one on one with you is a hell of a lot better. At least in my experiences.
TEXT 📲 SMYTHEFIELD
SEBASTIAN: You want to get to know me, suddenly? I thought I was too horrible to get to know, or whatever the fuck you said.
ELI: Guess I'm just trying to figure you out. Talking one on one with you is a totally different experience than that chat. So. What gives?
TEXT 📲 SMYTHEFIELD
ELI: Seriously.
ELI: What's your deal? You go from barely tolerable to somewhat likable, to someone who need to just shut up in a matter of hours. What gives with you? Just mood swing central or?
𝓉𝑒𝓍𝓉 ★ 𝒸𝒽𝑒𝓁𝒾
CHANDLER: Thank you!
CHANDLER: Yeah, I'm still at the bar. Sebastian gave me a better reason to keep drinking.
CHANDLER: LOL. Well, it's nice to meet you Eli!
ELI: I'm pretty sure a too-cool-for-school guy gives even his parents a reason to keep drinking. Let's be real.
ELI: Don't let him get to you. Seriously. Schmucks like him are a dime a dozen. They talk big but their opinions aren't worth a damn.
ELI: Nice to meet you, too.
𝓉𝑒𝓍𝓉 ★ 𝒸𝒽𝑒𝓁𝒾
CHANDLER: Hey! Congratulations on getting into Glee Club! You were awesome!
CHANDLER: Any plans this weekend?
CHANDLER: Sorry, I'm really bad at this... Hi! I'm Chandler 💛
ELI: Thanks! You were pretty great yourself.
ELI: Just hanging out with a friend of mine. What are you doing? Are you seriously at a bar?
ELI: Also. Hey. I know your name but I'm Eli. Which you already know. LOL
📲 clearpierce
BRITTANY: Did you get your last name because you were conceived in a clear field.
ELI: I think that probably happened generations before I was born. But you do make a valid point as to where this name might've come from.
ELI: Hmm.

JESSE: I want to be a Broadway actor, yes. And then I'll move onto musical direction and then directing in the future but that's not important.
JESSE: Oh, of course I will. Even if you didn't ask I probably would have.
ELI: Okay. I'll take your advice because you know what you're doing in this whole show choir thing a million times more than I know what I'm doing.
ELI: Then I can say I've learned from the best, yeah?

BLAINE: NOT SCARED OF YOU.
BLAINE: (“Skill” is a lot easier when genetics didn’t give you Medusa-possessed curls, 😖😩😭)
BLAINE: Way to turn my one syllable name into three, very impressive.
BLAINE: I can, if you aren’t already busy with all your new football buddies, 😒
BLAINE: Demanding much? But okay. It’d be nice not to eat alone again.
ELI: You should be scared. I'll start spamming you in a few minutes if you aren't careful.
ELI: (Your curls are the best, though. You should do more stuff with them!)
ELI: What can I say? I'm creative!
ELI: You and me. Lunch. The rest of the year. You're not eating alone. What the heck? You crazy? You could even meet a few of my friends that aren't loading on carbs and having a ton of rage right now. There are a couple that I think you'd like. Plus. There's glee now, yeah? I'm sure we got lunch company covered.
ELI: Though most of them might stab the first person who says the wrong thing in the neck with a fork. So, let's be careful on that.

BLAINE: I don't make the rules, 😇
BLAINE: Do your worst. You? I'm not afraid of.
BLAINE: (Skill and genetics, my dear Eli.)
BLAINE: Well. That too, 😉
BLAINE: E.LI.JAH. 🙃
ELI: Do my worst? Are you sure you want me to?
ELI: (Genetics helps. The “skill” is light pomade and a brush, dear Blaine.)
ELI: B.LAI.NE. 😑
ELI: You coming over this weekend, then?
ELI: Also. Meet me for lunch outside while we still can.

BLAINE: All's fair in selfies and war, Clearfield.
BLAINE: You can't ignore me. I'm un-ignore-able. That and you wouldn't have anyone to rant to about the football team.
BLAINE: (Also I hate you a little for getting your hair to do that.)
BLAINE: Since forever? You've seen me when someone puts a mic in my hand, Eli, 'modest' isn't really the proper term.
BLAINE: ELIJAH. 😶
ELI: That's really rude. Wow!
ELI: If you come at me like that? I won't be responsible for what goes down.
ELI: (Luck and patience, my dear Blaine.)
ELI: Oh. Sorry. I thought the term for that was talented.
ELI: BLAINE! 😣

Cooper: Yeah, yeah maybe we should fix that.
Cooper: How are things going?
ELI: I'd really like that.
ELI: They're going okay. How are things with you?
text 📲 anderfield
BLAINE: Your face is going to stick like that.
BLAINE: goo.gl/g3qv5Z
BLAINE: I’m not sure what that says about the students here then, since I’m not especially modest, either.
BLAINE: Elijah. 🤷🏻♂️
ELI: I can't believe you sent something like that.
ELI: That's not playing fair.
ELI: https://imgur.com/a/2TTw3EH
ELI: I'm choosing to ignore you. See? Can't see a word you're saying.
ELI: Since when? LOL
ELI: Blaine. 😑

BLAINE: I'm teasing, Eli. I know you didn't forget about me. Sometimes life just gets in the way, that's all.
BLAINE: Oh, Eli. Don't challenge me to a pouting contest. You'll lose.
BLAINE: I'm not saying I'm a terrible person or anything. Just -- I'm not sure that 'too great' is actually possible? And if it is, I'm not it.
BLAINE: Point taken. I supposed I just got used to the laughing, before.
ELI: Yeah. Yeah. Remember that pouting thing? Doing it now. You asked for this.
ELI: Oh, Blaine. Too late. Beat you.
ELI: Your modesty might make up for the lack of it in like a handful of people I've met via McKinley so far.
ELI: Blaine. 😟
