one for each of you: Elijah, thoughts on age gaps? (Have you ever been with someone much younger/much older than you? “There’s definitely a number of questions there. My thoughts on age gaps depend on when the age gap is occurring. A large gap between teenagers is a very different matter than a large gap between adults, after all.
“I haven’t been with anyone significantly younger than me, but I’ve certainly been with a few much older. I’m not sure what the exact difference was (we were rather preoccupied at the time), but I do know it was more than ten years.
“As for androids, seeing as how they’re built rather than born, age can’t apply to them. What matters is their intended age group. A model built to resemble an adult is an adult from the moment of activation. It was how they were programmed. Likewise, a model built to resemble a child will always be a child. Although… I wonder how deviation will affect that?”
He rummages around on his desk for a notepad, and writes something down in sloppy shorthand. Could androids mentally age now that they’re fully aware and evolving? It was something to look into over the coming years.
{{ ♦ What’s your absolute favorite book and why?
I wish I could say something intelligent and come off all cool, but I’m me and the number of books I’ve actually finished over the years is depressing. From the short list of what I have read, though, it’s between John Dies at the End by David Wong and Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom by Cory Doctorow.
The former is a comedy horror about a bizarre drug that’s killing people, and the two slackers that are trying to stop it. There’s shadow men, and a living supercomputer that’s controlling said shadow men, and a portal in an abandoned mall, and it’s just…it’s really weird. But it managed to hold my attention so for that alone it gets a 10/10.
The latter is about a society in which technology has cured death and scarcity, and people are free to do as they please because wealth is measured in respect. The main character moves to Disney World to join a crew there that works on improving the rides, and he ends up murdered (coming back in a cloned body), and a lot happens in a short number of pages. It’s not the deepest novel in the world, but I love the tech bits, and I want that cure for death. It’s not quite ideal since the ideal is becoming an android, but it’s certainly a good alternative 👍
I can guarantee if I read all the books I want to read, though, these two wouldn’t be the top contenders for my absolute favorite. They’re not bad by any means, but I know by summaries I’d enjoy the hell out of other books more. I just have to actually read themmmm.

It seems like a lot, but they’re mostly all small, and even the fandom ones hold meaning for me (otherwise I wouldn’t be getting fandom ones lol).
I’m also thinking of getting I Am Deviant somewhere but I hesitate to add that to my list since DBH is my current obsession, and I don’t want to get something on a whim. I can definitely see me staying attached to the idea behind those words, though, so who knows.
