Boarding. 

Captain looks bored. Probably is. How many trips has he taken today? Oh, the world outside's gone to shit so probs none.

But he still looks bored. Maybe he's just sad, maybe he's lost someone out there in the shitstorm that is the new world. She could help. Hell, she's been trained for this. She should help. But she doesn't.

He keeps looking bored as she loads her luggage, watching with glossed-over eyes. He's probably just sad, like really sad. Who knows, maybe he'll sink their ship and take her with him to down wherever he is. Down wherever the sad, glossy eyes linger. Hers are probably the same, sad, glossy eyes. 

She probably looks bored. Straight faced and dragging her shit in big heels and a little skirt. She went all out with the bling and the clothes. A year ago, someone sees her walking 'round in this stuff, she'd definitely be going for a night out. Now they just feel kinda like funeral clothes. Sad and heavy, nothing she could dance in.

She watches the island grow smaller and smaller and her chest literally feels like someone's squeezing it down in size along with the island.

She pukes, over the railing, heaving. Looks back up at the captain. Glossy-eyed and bored.

She probably looks the same.

Happiness Is Like The Weird Lady Told Me | Self-para (for Ivana)

Ivana wasn't too difficult to leave behind. No, that makes it sound bad. Obviously, she'd miss her little Vanana. But she'd noticed she was doing better, bouncing about and smiling and just...freer. She's not really sure if it's because she's kept for Shay and got a little air outside all of it or if she's figured things out on her own, but she's glad. She knows the gift she got her is a bit of risky one, and it could either go down well or real bad. She got her a necklace, same size and shape as the one Shay'd gotten her long ago. 

It's hard, letting go of something that's been part of you for long. When she told Vanana to take that necklace off once, she had a bit of a...strong reaction. So this is risky, leaving her with this. But she hopes she gets it the right way. She's not trying to replace Shay's place, obviously. That's pretty stupid and...kinda weird, no. She's trying to slowly lift his importance away. There's nothing wrong with loving, but letting it break you is just...no, she's not leaving her girls all broken up over love, none of 'em.

So she left Vanana a little, golden necklace with the word 'happiness' in Latvian, in a little box with a small note stuck to it. "His was 'life', and you've lived long enough. But now you outta thrive, babe. Be happy, don't just live. Go, do, be. ILY, hun."

Knowing Gretsie-Boo existed was a comfort when it came to Leon, that was for sure. It was nice knowing most of her babes had other babes to care for them, anyway, when she...left. But she still worried. It was annoying and always at the back of her mind and it sucked. She didn’t really leave much for Leon, mostly because she knew he was happy with a brush, some paints and a surface. And air. Air without judgment, without anything, really. He just wanted to be content and secure.

So she didn’t leave him much.

She left him her Mayday Parade, Anywhere But Here album and her best bottle (cost her a fuckton, but hell, she’s going back into the real world, whatever), and a jacket. She also left him a letter.

“Yosicals Leonardo Da Vinshit. I would clarify who this is but that spectacular written entrance of mine gave it away. (It’s El, btws). First of all, listen to that damn album, man. It’s mopey and sad and pissy and it’s basically a bath in self-pity and bitterness and you my friend need to exfoliate or whatever. Get it all out. Blast that album then throw it out the window. (Don’t, though. That shit was expensive.) But yeah, you can’t be pissed off forever. The world’s gone to shit and really, it’s always been shit. So you gotta try and be better shit than…all the other shit…? Point is, man, you gotta hold your man’s hand out in those gardens and in the hallways and maybe even kiss his face off there sometimes. Do you know what that’ll get you? You’ll end up with the people who care about you being all happy for you and shit and the people who don’t bitching about it when they can’t do shit.

So listen to the album. And when all the mope’s outta your system, either put on my kick-fucking-butt jacket or have that bottle and fall back exactly where you were.

She didn't leave him much. She left him a choice of falling back into the past or putting on one hell of a confidence-boosting, super awesome leather jacket and walking into the now and to-be.
