Did Epic! The Musical get you in a Greek Mythology mood?

I've always loved Greek mythology, well, any type of mythology. I find tales and beliefs from around the world fascinating and a great way to learn about different cultures. I also love musicals, to me it's a great way to find more music, I am constantly looking for new sounds. When I found Epic, I was ecstatic, it was a blend of the two things I love. So, I put together a list of books, podcasts, musicals (one other I know of), and shows if you need more Greek myths thanks to this musical.

Let's Talk About Myths Baby

I LOVE this podcast, this is the only one I listen to faithfully, she retells the stories like you're 2 friends going out for drinks, (she even retells the Odessey, so you don't have to read it) She finds the oldest versions of the stories to get as close to the original as possible.

2. Hadestown the Musical

This musical follows the Greek tragedy of Orpheus and Eurydice. This is an underrated musical, the animatics are just as good as the ones for Epic so give it a listen.

3. Circe and The Song of Achilles both written by Madeline Miller

In his story, Odysseus meets both Circe and Achilles, but they have their own stories as well. The author didn't stray too far from the original myths, so I recommend giving both these books a try.

4. Lore Olympus written by Rachel Smythe

Now that the Webtoon is finished I don't mind recommending it. Webtoon is free to use, and you don't have to pay to read so if you don't like this version of Hades a Persephone then hey, nothing to lose. The art, comedy, colors, and character growth in this comic version of the tale. There are also physical copies, but you have to buy those.

5. Blood of Zeus on Netflix

The art in this Netflix series is beautiful and the story, not to mention the character designs! Only downside is there are only two seasons for now.

6. Hades- Switch game

Last but not least, if you like video games this one is perfect for you. Zagreus who is the son of Hades is trying to escape from the Underworld.

If you both recognize each other and can focus on making each other stronger, then you can save people to win and win to save people, becoming the greatest heroes.

Leaks are illegal, and attacking the author in his replies for leaks is not good no matter how ass the leaked chapter is (what was once a bittersweet end becomes a sourpuss ending with the leak)

I'm still pissed about Toga's shitty death (and how her death was mostly used to bond Uraraka and Deku over their failure) and Deku's callousness with Bakugo in the epilogue before so I feel my dissatisfaction with the ending has become more justified lol

Because of the inconsistency of the art, I have a 50% suspicion that it's a doujin (I know there are 🥦🍵 fanartists who can almost copy the mangaka's artstyle) and the leakers shared it as "official" for one last hurrah. But if it's real, I'm glad I never spend a single money on this series. Not even for the manga volume

Dkbk is only good in fanworks now

Also, my sister who hates bkdk/dkbk (but she has a working brain and good literature analysis skill) even tells me the (allegedly) leaked chapter is ass because "That Midoriya won't want to work together with Kacchan? That's ridiculous, he should be over the moon! People say he grows up? That's losing his soul. Man, he really is useless."

She once said she won't buy the manga if (romantic) dkbk/bkdk becomes canon, but now she said she won't buy the manga if bkdk/dkbk don't end up as a hero duo

I think it's important that we, as a community, move on from this.

If you feel inspired to make angst or rewrites that's fine, it's always nice to try and put something good back into a bad story, but the ultimate trend should be away from this chapter entirely.

It's no fun if we spend the rest of our time in this fandom bitter and disappointed. I've seen entire fandoms become completely unnavigable because you couldn't take two steps without seeing reminders of what soiled it.

By all means get this out of your system if it inspired you but then it's back to AUs, back to domestic one shots, back to Kacchan's new costume, back to silly dumb pining soulmates.

We have better shit to do than dwell on this.

Back to business as usual.

The worst part about Liam Payne dying is that people are posting about “the switch up is crazy”

Like no. He was an abuser and made horrible decisions, but nobody wanted him to die. He was getting hate for an INCREDIBLY valid reason, but we all recognized that he needed mental and physical help. He needed to go to rehab. He needed to get away from drugs and alcohol and improve upon himself away from the public. No one wanted him to die.

We’re not mourning the life of an abuser, we are mourning the part of him that we adored and looked up to for a massive part of our childhood/ teenage years. He was a huge part of how I was introduced to my love of music. And yes, he did horrible things and made horrible decisions and over the last few years has been anything but admirable, but none of us wanted this.

Maya didn’t want this. And everyone saying that it’s her fault can actually go burn in hell. She likely already blames herself enough. She likely already wishes she hadn’t spoken up about it out of the guilt that she likely feels. You guys commenting all over the socials about how this is her fault and “are you happy now?” Are actually horrible people.

A 7 year old boy just lost his father. A woman just lost her long term boyfriend. Two parents just lost their son. Several young children just lost their uncle. Show some fucking respect. Joking about it and hating on people who had nothing to do with what happened is not doing anything but twist the knife for the people who this has ACTUALLY effected.
