"Computa, show me two dudes kissin-!"
I need this fit so damn bad
ok. now that everyone has some distance from it. lets revisit one of the most hot button issues of 2025
the last judge blasted steps runback
truly unforgivable game design
pissed me off but i forgive team cherry
i have no strong opinion
i enjoy it from a design or gameplay perspective
i am the worlds biggest fan of the last judge runback
i haven't played silksong button
Last Judge as your Act 1 ending boss: absolutely despicable, disgusting, brutal, and cruel
Last Judge after getting clawline, feydown, or literally any stat upgrades: the most non-issue ever.
New Helluva short was fire
I will be absolutely abusing these as reaction images
I think what makes the Hollow Knight fandom so peaceful is that it's literally impossible to start discourse about the story, lore, or characters.
It's all subtly and subtext. No one ever speaks plainly about what is going on. So much of the context around the events of the games are literally hidden in the walls. Half the things that do happen in these games get ignored for fandom content anyway. Not for disagreement, exclusively for fun. Just, "okay but what if this wasn't true. For fun. As a treat. :)" And if anyone walks in speaking with confidence about what happens in the lore, it's because they got all of their opinions from the same youtube video everyone else did. A video where the most common phrase in its script is "it's unclear".
Reference pages and lore tidbits from the Hollow Knight AU I host on @askthepalechildren. It's not in the usual style and breaks the fourth wall so I'm posting them to my main instead.
More readable versions of the notes are available in the alt text.
Cathleen Bate (Star and Stripe), 04/07
I'm glad everyone is celebrating her today and all these decorations are not in reference to anything else. Literally nothing is more important than Cathleen Bate right now.
The Pale King showing up to colonize Hallownest be like-
Hitoshi Shinso, 07/01
It's not HIS fault the rest of them have such horrendous sleeping habits.
If you do not accept the Hellaverse series' as being in this category, you are a coward.
they're a problematic character TO YOU. they're problematic to me as well but I'm being weird and horny about it so it's different
Coming to tadc as a mha fan and seeing the "they should've been punished more" AGAIN and TWICE 🥀
Oh I'm going three for three with Hazbin Hotel, just you wait.
Unfortunately, I am drawn to stories where the thesis is giving the kindness and grace to let bad people improve themselves and everyone seems to interpret that as "your abuse specifically is invalid and this shitty person is being absolved of their crimes".
People are flawed, sometimes people are horrifically flawed, and those people I've met are people I don't want in my life because I can't trust them in it. But is the point of being angry with them not just a desire for them to not have those flaws? These are still human beings capable of complex thought, people that came up with their own reasoning that led to them being like this. It is not impossible for their mindsets to change, for hindsight to set in, for new context to be found. People aren't sedentary, in anything.
It also doesn't help these arguments that all of these characters are blatantly shown to have experienced severe trauma that guided their reasoning and the tone of a sad scene being sad makes people think that this is somehow suppose to make them angels in our eyes. You aren't shown this to absolve them, you are shown this to understand. Abusive behavior doesn't exist in a vacuum and it makes me side eye the people so violently against these story beats because they themselves are an abuse victim. Like- are you SURE you don't want to look inside yourself a little bit? Just gonna tell people to die for liking a drawing? Okay, I'm sure that's indicative of nothing.
As a victim, I can't give the people that hurt me my trust anymore, and that's okay! These series never discourage that idea! But some characters will give them a second chance because those are the kind of empathetic people they are. The kind of idealist that believes no one is stuck at their lowest point and actively wants to pull them out. You don't enact positive change with hatred.
People trying to be better is a good thing and the fact that people take that in a CARTOON as a personal attack just makes me understand why the death penalty still exists. You don't want the greater good, you don't want kindness, you want vengeance and that's eating you alive.
girl she's dead what do you want them to do. hang the corpse
Goose: The moral of the story is that it's important to know that your friends care about you and you should take the hands they're reaching out to you instead of pushing them away.
The fandom, apparently: The entire circus should have taken turns beating Jax with hammers.
We need a wildly popular ship that is just blatantly incestuous again. We used to be a proper website.
