Laughing softly when she admitted she did want to stab her eye with a fork, James shook his head and sighed softly. “It’s an important part of the job,” James advised her. “The more you’re on friendly terms with clients the more they’re willing to open up about themselves and information that could possibly make or break the case. Would you rather have someone who keeps information because they don’t trust you as their lawyer and friend or someone who’ll tell you everything?”
“I don’t need to be their friend and they don’t have to trust me as a person, they just need to trust my skills.” She never understood why some clients needed to have some sort of emotional bond with their lawyers. Why couldn’t people simply follow their logic rather than their emotions? “I am curious, do you ask your clients if they actually committed the crime?”
