When Din first saw the scars from Palpatine's lightning on Luke, he didn't even raise an eyebrow; rather, on the contrary, he was frightened by how much his beloved Jedi had endured and how much he had withstood.

Luke often tends to the Mandalorian's wounds. Most often, Din asks him not to resort to magic, wanting to feel the warmth of Skywalker's hands on his skin.

The film would have made a lot more money if the hatch had simply appeared (even as a flashback).
